Nolan Henderson threw for four touchdowns, three to Chandler Harvin, and Delaware beat Saint Francis (Pa.) 56-17 on Saturday in the first round of the FCS playoffs. The Blue Hens (8-4), who gained an at-large berth and home game after going 4-4 in the Co lonial Athletic Association, will play at top-seeded South Dakota State next Saturday. Henderson was 16-of-23 passing for 266, throwing TD passes of 30, 7 and 58 yards to Harvin, a Sam Houston transfer, who had a season-high 128 yards on four catches. He nderson, who took a seat early in the fourth quarter, also had a rushing TD. Kyron Cumby rushed for 111 yards on 10 carries.Henderson, who reached a program record with 32 passing TDs this season, led Delaware to a 28-3 halftime lead with the Blue Hens already having 331 yards offense and 17 first downs. They would outgain Saint Francis 586-259 with 303 in the air and 283 rushing. Saint Francis quarterback and Northeast Conference Offensive Player of Year Cole Doyle was only 7-of-20 passing for 8 2 yards and didn't play in the second half after an apparent leg injury. Pitt transfer Justin Sliwoski took over in the second half and led the Red Flash to their first touchdown on a 12-yard pass to Dawson Snyder in the third quarter after Kerry Gallowa y returned an interception 54 yards from the end zone. Sliwoski connected with Makai Jackson for a 45-yard score late in the fourth quarter and finished with 103 yards passing. Nolan Henderson tied a career high with five touchdown passes and Delaware defeated Monmouth 49-17 on Saturday. Henderson was 22-of-28 passing for 323 yards, averaging 11.5 yards per pass. Two of his TD passes went to Thyrick Pitts. Jourdan Townsend, Mar cus Yarns and Chandler Harvin added TD receptions for Delaware (7-2, 4-2 Colonial Athletic Association). Henderson and Kyron Cumby added rushing scores. Jaden Shirden, the FCS rushing yards leader, ran for 202 yards on 26 carries with a 69-yard score for the Hawks, who only had 90 yards in the air against the nation's second-best pass defense (120.2 yards coming in). Nolan Henderson's 72-yard scoring strike to Marcus Yarns capped a 14-point first quarter and Delaware led start to finish in a 38-7 victory over Morgan State on Saturday. Jourdan Townsend gave Delaware (6-1) a 7-0 lead on the Blue Hens' first possession with a 17-yard touchdown run on his only carry of the game. Henderson needed just four plays on the Blue Hens' next drive to connect with Yarns for a 14-0 lead in the nonconference matchup. Morgan State (2-5) closed to within 14-7 at halftime on Alfonzo Graham's 2-yard touchdown run with 1:23 left in the second quarter. Henderson's 7-yard touchdown run was the only score of the third quarter, pushing Delaware's advantage to 21-7. The Blue Hens added three scores in the final period - Khory Spruill's 2-y ard touchdown run, a 39-yard field goal by Andrew MacMillan and backup quarterback Ryan O'Connor's 7-yard TD toss to Brett Buckman. Nolan Henderson threw for 368 yards, the Delaware defense allowed just 159 total yards and the Blue Hens defeated Towson 24-10 on Saturday. Henderson completed 25 of 41 passes with touchdown throws of 74 yards to Chandler Harvin and 4 yards to Khory Spru ill. Harvin finished with three receptions for 105 yards. Nolan Henderson threw for career highs of 379 yards and four touchdowns as Delaware beat Rhode Island 42-21 in Saturday's only matchup of ranked FCS teams. Joudon Townsend had a pair of TD catches and a career-high 109 yards receiving for the Fightin' Bl ue Hens (3-0, 1-0 Colonial Athletic Association). Delaware, ranked 10th in the coaches poll, broke the game open with a 28-point second quarter to lead 35-7 at halftime, scoring touchdowns on five straight possessions on drives of at least 75 yards to en d the half. All four of Henderson's TD passes came in the first half including a 65-yarder to Townsend, a career long for the receiver. Nolan Henderson threw for three touchdowns, two to Braden Brose, and Delaware beat Delaware State 35-9 on Saturday for coach Ryan Carty's first win at Delaware Stadium. Last week, Carty had a memorable head coaching debut as Delaware picked up its first win over an FBS program since 2007 by topping Navy. Delaware took a 7-3 lead against Delaware State after Trey Austin blocked a punt and Quincy Watson recovered it in the end zone. The Delaware defense nearly scored in the third quarter when Kedrick Whit ehead Jr. picked up a fumble and raced the other way before being tackled on the 11. Brose capped the 11-yard drive with a 7-yard touchdown for a 21-3 lead. Marcus Yarns had four carries for 99 yards and a score for Delaware (2-0). Thyrick Pitts caught s even passes for 94 yards and a score, and Brose made three catches for 37 yards. Jared Lewis was 10-of-24 passing for 153 yards, including a 57-yard touchdown to Rahkeem Smith for Delaware State (1-1). Nolan Henderson threw a pair of touchdown passes and FCS-member Delaware beat Navy 14-7 on Saturday to give Ryan Carty a win in his debut as the Fightin' Blue Hens' coach. Carty, a Delaware graduate and a member of the Blue Hens' 2003 national championsh ip team, came over from Sam Houston State where he was offensive coordinator. It was Delaware's first win over an FBS team and Navy's first loss to an FCS team since the Blue Hens beat the Midshipmen in 2007.Navy, which lost five fumbles all of la st season, had three in the first half against Delaware. On Navy's first play from scrimmage. Tai Lavatai fumbled and Delaware converted with Henderson's 6-yard score to Bryce De Maille. Coming at 14:38, it was the quickest Delaware touchdown versus an F BS opponent since 2015. Henderson found Chandler Harvin deep for a 51-yard score in the third quarter. Navy responded with its only points with Lavatai scoring from 2 yards out with under a minute left in the period. A final Navy drive ended at the Delaw are 9 on a fourth-down incomplete pass into the end zone. Henderson was 20-of-32 passing with 189 yards. Nolan Henderson was 18-of-23 passing for 263 yards and a touchdowns to help Delaware beat St. Francis (PA) 27-10 on Saturday night. Ryan Coe made field goals of 36 and 26 yards before Dejoun Lee scored on a 1-yard run to cap a 14-play, 58-yard drive with 15 seconds left in the first half and give Delaware (2-0) a 13-3 lead. Anthony Paoletti added a 1-yard touchdown run with six minutes left in the third quarter.Jyron Russell pulled the handoff on a zone-read play and raced untouched down the righ t sideline for a 66-yard touchdown to trim the deficit to 20-10 about four minutes later but Henderson hit Thyrick Pitts in stride in the back of the end zone for a 30-yard TD to cap the scoring with early in the fourth quarter. Nolan Henderson threw for 262 yards and two touchdowns, and Delaware rallied to beat Maine 34-24 Thursday night in the season and Colonial Athletic Association opener for both teams. Ranked No. 5 in the FCS, Delaware built a 17-0 lead before the Black Be ars scored 24 straight and led by seven at halftime. Henderson connected with Thyrick Pitts on a 66-yard scoring pass early in the third quarter to tie it. Ryan Coe's 20-yard field goal with 4:41 left in the third put the Blue Hens up for good. Khory Spr uill's 2-yard scoring plunge ended an eight play, 77-yard drive to help seal it with 8:01 left to play. The Blue Hens (FCS No. 20) rallied from a 21-7 third-quarter deficit then held on after Penn's Isaiah Malcome scored on a 69-yard punt return to make the score 28-27.
