AUG 30 CONFERENCE USA DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: UTEP S Dy'Vonne Inyang led the Miner defense with six total tackles, including four solo stops, as the Miners snapped a three-game losing streak against the Aggies in the Battle of I-10 rivalry. The six tackles for Inyang tied a career-high mark for the veteran safety, who last tallied six tackles in UTEP's game at Charlotte in 2020. As a whole, Inyang led a defensive unit that held New Mexico State to its lowest point total since scoring three points at Ole Miss on Nov. 9, 2019. The three points scored by the Aggies marked the lowest point total in a home game for the Aggies since they lost, 59-0, to Boise State on Oct. 2, 2010 in Las Cruces. - Conference USA Football

UTEP defensive backs Dy'vonne Inyang and Dennis Barnes are returning to the Miners, after entering the NCAA Transfer Portal in December. Barnes and Inyang, along with fellow defensive backs Duron Lowe and Broderick Harrell, entered the NCAA Transfer Portal back on Dec. 5, forcing UTEP to play its final game at North Texas with a decimated secondary. The Miners lost the game 45-43 to finish the 2020 season 3-5. - KTSM 9 News
