2019 ALL-SOUTHLAND CONFERENCE SECOND TEAM (COACHES): PK Bailey Giffen, Lamar, Jr., Bryan, Texas,...Giffen may be one of the biggest surprise stories of the season within in the Southland Conference. A former walk-on, Giffen took over as the team's starting kicker in the second game of the season and only impressed from there. A perfect 26-of-26 on extra point attempts, Giffen proved his leg was just as strong as it was accurate. The Bryan, Texas native finished the year 21-of-28 (.750) on field goal attempts to lead the Southland Conference. He was an impressive 9-of-14 (.643) on kicks of 40 yards or more and garnered national recognition following the Cards game at Houston Baptist where he booted back-to-back career long field goals (51 and 53 yards) to earn Southland and STATS FCS National Special Teams Player of the Week honors. Giffen also averaged nearly 43 yards per punt on 17 punts, including four punts of more than 50 yards, on the season. - Lamar Football
