Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher worked all week to make sure his team didn't take Prairie View A&M lightly, especially with its regular-season finale against LSU coming up. The 16th-ranked Aggies quickly showed their coach that they heard his message loud and clear. Devon Achane and Isaiah Spiller combined for three touchdowns before halftime, and Texas A&M cruised to a 52-3 win over the Panthers on Saturday. "We didn't look ahead like LSU, LSU and just overlook PV," safety Leon O'Neal Jr. said. "That's not how we do things around here. We focused on Prairie View." Texas A&M easily bounced back from last week's loss at Ole Miss. Prairie View (7-3), an FCS school that plays in the SWAC, just couldn't keep up with the Aggies (8-3). "Our guys went out and played well and did what we were supposed to do," Fisher said. Texas A&M led 38-0 after a dominant first half by Achane and Spiller. It also limited Prairie View to 2 yards passing before the break.

Moose Muhammad grabbed a 30-yard TD pass from Zach Calzada on Texas A&M's first possession of the third quarter, making it 45-0. The Panthers got on the board on a 25-yard field goal by Luis Reyes on the next drive. Backup quarterback Blake Bost then took over for A&M with about 5 1/2 minutes left in the third quarter. Achane and Spiller combined for 115 yards rushing in the first two quarters and didn't run the ball after halftime. "They're great players and had very efficient days," Fisher said. "They started everything off for us perfectly." Prairie View graduate transfer Jawon Pass had just one completion and lost a fumble that the Aggies returned for a touchdown before being benched for Trazon Connley. He didn't fare much better, completing just one pass for 7 yards and rushing for 41 yards. - Texas A&M/AP College Football

Texas A&M's running back duo of Isaiah Spiller and Devon Achane combined for 292 rushing yards and three touchdowns to power the 21st-ranked Aggies to a 35-14 victory over Missouri on Saturday. Spiller rushed 20 times for 168 yards and one touchdown, and Achane added 16 carries for 124 yards and two scores as Texas A&M (5-2, 2-2 Southeastern Conference) avoided a letdown after last week's upset of Alabama.

Missouri (3-4, 0-3 SEC) has the nation's worst run defense - allowing 287 rushing yards per game - and it offered little resistance as Spiller ripped off a 48-yard touchdown run and Achane followed with a 20-yard scoring run in the first quarter. The home crowd booed Missouri coach Eli Drinkwitz when he ran out the clock in the first half rather than aggressively trying to cut into the Aggies' 28-7 lead. Zach Calzada completed 13 of 25 passes for 148 yards and two touchdowns. Both scoring passes went to Ainias Smith. - Texas A&M/AP College Football

Isaiah Spiller ran for 141 yards and a touchdown and Buddy Johnson returned an interception for a score in No. 5 Texas A&M's 20-7 victory over LSU on Saturday night. Texas A&M (6-1, No. 5 CFP) extended its winning streak to five games in its first contest since Nov. 7 after the team couldn't play the last two weeks because of a coronavirus outbreak. The Aggies relied on their running game and tough defense on a wet and soggy night where rain fell steadily and made passing difficult.

Kellen Mond had a season-low 105 yards passing in his first game this season without a touchdown pass. LSU's 123rd-ranked pass defense broke up eight of his passes in the first half and finished with 11. TJ Finley threw for 118 yards and had an interception in the second quarter for LSU (3-4) before he was benched for Max Johnson after Buddy Johnson's Pick-6 in the third quarter. Texas A&M beat the Tigers for the second time in three years after the Aggies had a 74-72 victory in seven overtimes in LSU's last visit to Kyle Field in 2018 in a game that tied the record for most OTs in an FBS game. - Texas A&M /AP College Football

Texas A&M controlled the line of scrimmage and the clock. Isaiah Spiller ran for 114 yards and two touchdowns and Kellen Mond threw for two scores to help the No. 11 Aggies beat Mississippi State 28-14 on Saturday. Texas A&M (3-1) led 14-0 at the half and had 325 yards of total offense in the game. Ainias Smith caught five passes for 20 yards and a touchdown. Chase Lane caught two passes, including a 51-yard touchdown reception in the opening minutes of the third quarter. Mississippi State (1-3) had little offensive rhythm for the third straight game. The Bulldogs' first touchdown came on Emmanuel Forbes' interception return in the third quarter. - AP College Football

As the game wore on, Texas A&M turned to the legs of Isaiah Spiller to continue moving the ball in the Aggies' 41-38 win over No. 4 Florida on Saturday at Kyle Field. The sophomore tailback chomped through the Gator defense for 174 yards on a career-high 27 carries. Spiller averaged 6.4 yards per attempt and scored twice. "Isaiah was awesome today," A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher said. "Ran the ball hard and physical against a very good, physical defense, and I'm very proud of him. That's a big-time effort today." Early in the fourth quarter, Spiller bounced off a defender on a fourth-and-2 run and dashed into the end zone for a 19-yard touchdown run that gave the Aggies their first lead of the game. Spiller said A&M's offensive line made his job easy.

"We had momentum going," Spiller said. "Cagan [Baldree] came around, he made a good block, and then the O-line did their job. I just ran and did my job, bounced off that tackle and ran into the end zone." Overall A&M ran 38 times for 205 yards with the majority of it coming from Spiller in the second half, when he gained 133 yards on 20 carries. "It was huge, especially starting that second half and when we started getting the run game going," A&M quarterback Kellen Mond said. "Florida got in multiple different looks to try and stop that run, and they were never able to capitalize." - Bryan/College Station Eagle

The SEC had only one team produce a 100-yard rusher in its opening week (Isaiah Spiller, Texas A&M), and everyone was critical of the Aggies grossly underperforming. By comparison, the pass-happy Big 12 had three 100-yard rushers for the second consecutive week. - Birmingham News

Isaiah Spiller had 117 yards rushing and Ainias Smith ran for a touchdown to help No. 10 Texas A&M overcome three turnovers in a mistake-filled game to beat Vanderbilt 17-12 on Saturday night in the season-opener for both teams. Spiller had 5 five yards rushing in the first half before getting going after halftime. Smith added 51 yards rushing after switching from receiver to running back this season to steady the offense on a night when Kellen Mond fumbled twice, losing one.

The Aggies didn't trail after the first quarter but were never able to pull away despite entering the game as 30-point favorites because of three fumbles and a penalty that resulted in a safety. Vanderbilt started Ken Seals at quarterback, making him just the third true freshman QB to start a SEC season opener since freshman eligibility was restored in 1972. He threw for 150 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions. Spiller got things going for A&M after halftime when he ran for 57 yards on the first play of the third quarter. Texas A&M pushed the lead to 14-5 when Mond connected with Caleb Chapman on a 17-yard TD pass two plays later. - AP College Football

Texas A&M running back Isaiah Spiller was ready when his chance came, moving up the depth chart from one of many backups to the position group's leader in less than a dozen games. Spiller rushed for 946 yards and 10 touchdowns last season to make the All-Southeastern Conference team. He managed only 36 yards rushing in his first three SEC games combined but blossomed to shoulder 80% of the running back carries over the last eight games. "My role has changed a lot from a year ago, which is kind of crazy," Spiller said this week on a Zoom conference call. "But I feel like I've really stepped up this year. I have to be a leader, because I have the most experience. I really can help everybody around me to get better. I know what they're going to experience because I went through that before."

Jashaun Corbin began last season as A&M's starting tailback. The 207-pounder was coming off a solid freshman season as the backup for Trayveon Williams, the SEC rushing champion. He had 346 yards on 61 carries for a solid 5.7 yards per carry average in 2018, and many expected him to approach the 1,760 yards on 271 carries posted that same season by Williams, who opted not to return for his senior year. - Bryan/College Station Eagle

2020 PRESEASON DOAK WALKER AWARD WATCH LIST: Isaiah Spiller (So.), Texas A&M,... Spiller, a sophomore running back, wasted little time establishing his presence in the A&M backfield as he exploded for an 85 yard touchdown run against Texas State in the 2019 season opener, the fourth-longest rush ever by an A&M freshman. A season ago, the Spring, Texas native posted 946 rushing yards to lead all SEC freshman running backs. The phenom chipped in 203 receiving yards to become A&M's 14th freshman to cross the 1,000 all-purpose yard mark. For his efforts, Spiller earned SEC All-Freshman Team honors from the league's coaches and was named the Top Offensive Newcomer at Texas A&M Football's annual banquet. - Texas A&M Football

When Texas A&M fell behind by a touchdown early on Saturday against UTSA, the Aggies needed something to get them going quickly. They got it in a 60-yard touchdown run by Isaiah Spiller on the first play of the next drive and the freshman's big day helped the Aggies to a 45-14 win. "When you hit those one play drives it demoralizes people. It does," coach Jimbo Fisher said. "It takes the heart out of guys on the other side. It takes a mature team to bounce back from that and on offense it gives you that adrenaline." Spiller set season highs with 217 yards rushing and three touchdowns to lead the Aggies to their third straight victory and make them bowl eligible for the 11th straight season.

The Aggies (6-3) were up by 14 when a 50-yard touchdown run by Spiller made it 28-7 early in the third quarter. Spiller padded the lead on an 8-yard run later in the third quarter on a drive where he had a 42-yard run. "He was the catalyst today," Fisher said. "He's growing each and every day." Kellen Mond threw for 211 yards and a touchdown, and his 1-yard TD run on the first drive of the fourth quarter made it 42-7. He was replaced on A&M's next drive with the Aggies in control of the game. Mond said the development of the running game has really helped him in the passing game and he's been impressed by the growth of Spiller this season. - AP College Football

Freshman Isaiah Spiller ran for 116 yards and two touchdowns and Kellen Mond threw for 317 yards with a touchdown pass and a run in three quarters to lead No. 16 Texas A&M to a 62-3 rout of Lamar on Saturday night. "Overall a very solid game and we better be because we've got conference play coming next week," coach Jimbo Fisher said. Spiller shined in the first game since Jashaun Corbin sustained a season-ending hamstring injury last week at Clemson, running for touchdowns of 1 and 34 yards. "He played well," Fisher said. "Each and every time he goes out there he's getting better. He's never perfect but he's always improving."

Mond was 20 of 28 with an interception. The Aggies (2-1) led 27-0 at halftime but Mond tried to throw in between two defenders on his first drive of the third quarter and was intercepted by Cameron Hayes. But the Cardinals couldn't get anything going on offense and had to punt. Mond found Jhamon Ausbon, who had 109 yards receiving, for a 26-yard catch to get the next drive going and Spiller capped it with a 34-yard run to make it 34-0 midway through the third. - Texas A&M/AP College Football
