Jashaun Corbin, Florida State, Player News

Florida State running back Jashaun Corbin is ending his time with the Seminoles and declaring for the 2022 NFL Draft. Corbin shared his decision in a statement on social media Monday. "Thank you God and to everyone who has helped me get to this point. I'm truly grateful #HeroZero," the redshirt sophomore posted on Twitter. Corbin started 20 games in his two seasons with FSU after arriving as a transfer from Texas A&M, where he appeared in 14 games for the Aggies. He led the Seminoles in rushing with 887 yards, including two of the longest runs in the ACC: an 89-yard touchdown against Notre Dame and a 75-yard touchdown against Louisville. He joined Dalvin Cook (2015), Chris Thompson (2010) and Sammie Smith (1987) as the only players in school history with multiple scoring runs of 75 yards or longer in a season. Corbin also was one of the Seminoles top receiving threats, leading the team in catches (25) while totaling 144 yards and 1 touchdown. - Orlando Sentinel

2021 ALL-ACC FOOTBALL THIRD TEAM (COACHES/MEDIA): RB - Jashaun Corbin, Florida State, 62 votes,...Corbin, from Rockledge, Florida, led FSU's rushing attack with 887 yards and seven rushing touchdowns. Corbin's run of 89 yards in the season opener against Notre Dame was the longest in the ACC this season, and his 75-yard touchdown against Louisville was the second-longest in the league. Corbin needed just 11 carries to run for a career-high 159 yards against the Cardinals. He is just the fourth player in school history, joining Dalvin Cook, Chris Thompson and Sammie Smith, with multiple 75-yard touchdown runs in a season. Corbin led the ACC with 6.20 yards per carry and had four 100-yard rushing games – against Notre Dame (144), Jacksonville State (109), Louisville (159) and UMass (127). - Florida State Football

Jordan Travis, Jashaun Corbin, Treshaun Ward, D.J. Williams and Lawrance Toafili each had touchdown runs as Florida State routed UMass 59-3 on Saturday. The Seminoles (3-4) have won three straight games for the first time since the end of the 2017 season. Corbin ran for 127 yards on 11 carries. Florida State ran for a season-high 365 yards, the sixth time this season the Seminoles have surpassed the 200-yard mark on the ground. Florida State scored on eight of its 10 drives and matched its season high in points for a game this season with 38 in the first half alone. The Seminoles also grabbed two interceptions. Jarvis Brownlee had a 70-yard interception return for a touchdown, and Jammie Robinson had an interception in the end zone. Cameron Carson made a 45-yard field-goal attempt for UMass (1-6) after Florida State fumbled the game-opening kickoff. - Florida State/AP College Football

Florida State running back Jashaun Corbin is back and healthy and nobody is happier about that than the redshirt sophomore himself. "I definitely found my youth again," said Corbin, who is coming off his first season with the Seminoles. The 6-foot, 220-pounder started eight of the nine games last season, finishing second on the team with 401 rushing yards and five touchdowns as he continued to work his way back from a devastating hamstring injury he suffered at the start of the 2019 season while at Texas A&M. But as FSU enters the midway point of fall camp, Corbin's demonstrated the quickness and drive that made him one of the top all-purpose backs in the country out of Rockledge High in 2018. It was his performance in last Saturday's scrimmage that drew praise from the coaching staff.

"Jashaun Corbin showed flashes of why we brought him here," said offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham. "He showed flashes of that starter at a high level at a young age. He went through a time where he had to get healthy and he went through that year the first year back and today was the best I have seen him run since he's been on this campus." "The scrimmage kind of was like … the light bulb went off for me and I just played ball, I stopped thinking and just trusted myself and just played ball," added Corbin. While FSU finished in the bottom half of the ACC in total offense last season, the Seminoles did show significant improvement in the run game. The team averaged close to 200 yards per game on the ground, with quarterback Jordan Travis (559 yards) and tailbacks La'Damian Webb (369 yards), Lawrance Toafili (356 yards) and Corbin making up most of the production. "Getting back to how I used to play and just knowing when it's time to be physical and when it's time to make guys miss," said Corbin. "It definitely feels good to get back into that mode again." - Orlando Sentinel

Jashaun Corbin ran for three touchdowns while Jordan Travis threw for two TDs and ran for another as Florida State snapped a three-game skid with a 56-35 win over Duke on Saturday. Travis threw for 192 yards and two TD passes to Ja'Khi Douglas, as Florida State (3-6, 2-6 Atlantic Coast Conference) won following a 28-day layoff that was prompted by two game postponements and a rescheduled matchup with Duke. The Seminoles are 21-0 in the all-time series vs. Duke.

Mataeo Durant ran for 127 yards, including a 64-yard touchdown, for Duke (2-9, 1-9). The Blue Devils ran 51 times for 245 yards but tossed three interceptions and managed just 148 yards passing. Duke has allowed 56, 56, 48 and 56 points in its last four games, all losses. Corbin had 16 carries for 72 yards and two of his three touchdowns came out of the wildcat formation. Florida State ran for 324 yards on 43 carries. Hamsah Nasirildeen, Travis Jay and Brendan Gant had interceptions for the Seminoles. - Florida State/AP College Football

Throughout this season, the Florida State Seminoles have used a trio of running backs. But with La'Damian Webb and Lawrance Toafili either limited or unavailable during last weekend's game against North Carolina State, it was all on Jashaun Corbin to produce out of the backfield. Corbin did not disappoint as he registered his best performance of the season. Despite the 38-22 loss to the Wolfpack, Corbin set a season high with 77 yards on 14 carries, including a 28-yard touchdown run on 4th-and-1. FSU also used Corbin in wildcat packages throughout the game, which had a ton of success. He helped pick up three of the Seminoles' five fourth-down conversions. "He's the type of guy you want on your football team," FSU offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham said about Corbin.

"Great kid, smart kid, passionate, brings it every single day. The type of game he had, he made the safety miss on a critical fourth down, went, and scored a touchdown. And he was a vital part of what we did. "Because of all the wildcat, we lined up, we needed a vet to step up with two freshmen in there, that we had to develop a plan to where if one of those guys at quarterback did get rattled, we needed to be able to put somebody back there who could calm us down and not make them have to make every play. His maturity and his intelligence allowed us to line up in wildcat and really take a lot of pressure off those young quarterbacks.
