  05/06/22 - WR Taj HarrisrSr/2024, Rutgers, 6-1, 180 (DS#999 WR) + More +

Rutgers has to replace Bo Melton, now a Seattle Seahawk, but this position group is arguably deeper than it has been in a while. Syracuse transfer Taj Harris made a big impression in the spring game, finishing with five catches for 49 yards and a touchdown. The Palmyra product made some tough plays and clearly showed that he could be poised to be Rutgers' top receiver. He's a dynamic weapon. Sean Ryan also played well with four catches for 48 yards. Add in Aron Cruickshank, who's recovering from an injury, Shameen Jones, Isaiah Washington, Brandon Sanders and young players like Rashad Rochelle and Max Patterson, and this could be a formidable group with speed and athleticism. - Asbury Park Press

  04/26/22 - WR Taj HarrisrSr/2024, Rutgers, 6-1, 180 (DS#999 WR) + More +

Taj Harris made a strong first impression on the Rutgers fanbase. He caught the opening touchdown of the spring game, an impressive back-shoulder grab on a pass from Noah Vedral. Harris finished with five catches for 49 yards. On the other team, Sean Ryan had the distinction of catching Wimsatt's first pass at a spring game, gaining 26 yards. Ryan finished with four catches for 48 yards. Sixth-year senior Shameen Jones (67 yards on three catches) had a nice day as well. With leading receiver Bo Melton off to the NFL, the trio are in the running to be the Scarlet Knights' top receiver, and each showed flashes of that capability. - Star Ledger

  10/04/21 - WR Taj HarrisrSr/2024, Rutgers, 6-1, 180 (DS#999 WR) + More +

Syracuse wide receiver Taj Harris plans to transfer. Orange coach Dino Babers confirmed Monday that the junior has decided to enter the transfer portal. Babers said he spoke to Harris before Saturday's game at Florida State and afterward. Babers said Harris, who did not travel to Florida with the team, decided "the best opportunity for him" would be to transfer. Harris, who also did not play in the previous game against Liberty, announced his decision Sunday on social media. He has two years of eligibility remaining.

The speedy 6-foot-2, 180-pound Harris set Syracuse rookie records for receptions and receiving yards in 2018 with 40 catches for 565 yards. He was a third-team, All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection in 2020, when he had 58 catches for 733 yards and five TDs, and had 16 catches for 171 yards in three games this season. He finishes his Syracuse career with 151 receptions for 2,028 yards and 10 touchdowns and four 100-yard games. The Orange (3-2, 0-1 ACC) have dropped to the bottom of the conference in passing offense, averaging 171 yards per game, and have only three scoring passes, the fewest in the league. - AP College Football

  08/27/21 - WR Taj HarrisrSr/2024, Rutgers, 6-1, 180 (DS#999 WR) + More +

Taj Harris is in a unique position to break a major Syracuse record this season. The junior wideout is just 1,124 yards away from Steve Ishmael's program record of career receiving yards. Harris was named to this year's Senior Bowl Preseason Watch List, along with the Biletnikoff Award Watch List, given to the nation's top wide receiver. Harris earned All-ACC third-team honors last season after finishing with 58 receptions for 733 yards and five touchdowns. Dino Babers even allowed Harris the opportunity to attend the ACC's media days last month, saying he's earned the honor after three productive seasons. Be on the lookout for Harris' production this season as he continues to climb the record books as the Orange's top option at receiver. - The Post-Standard

  07/28/21 - WR Taj HarrisrSr/2024, Rutgers, 6-1, 180 (DS#999 WR) + More +

Syracuse football was picked to finish last in its ACC division by conference media members. The dreary outlook is not a huge surprise. The Orange is coming off a 1-10 season, and oddsmakers' preseason win totals have been set around three wins. Syracuse was last picked to finish at the bottom of the division in 2018 when the team finished 10-3 and ended the year second in the Atlantic Division behind conference champion Clemson. - The Post-Standard

  07/26/21 - WR Taj HarrisrSr/2024, Rutgers, 6-1, 180 (DS#999 WR) + More +

The night before Syracuse's football contingent strided all over the Westin hotel here at the ACC's annual football media days, the small traveling party dined at a steakhouse down the road. A seafood tower acted as an appropriate centerpiece with two linemen at the table. Food is never a chore for Josh Black and Airon Servais. The third player at the table got a playful ribbing the next day from his head coach when asked if he finished his steak. "I finished the spinach," Taj Harris quipped. Dino Babers picked Harris to come down here and represent the Orange at the conference's marquee preseason event. The decision to leave the quarterbacks home made for good fodder on talk radio, but the coach said his wide receiver earned the opportunity to bathe in the spotlight after three productive seasons.

He thinks Harris is a star worthy of a seat at the table of the great SU receivers to come through the program. If Harris can get through a full season this fall without leaving much meat on the bone, he could end the year atop the record book. He enters the season 1,124 yards shy of Steve Ishmael's school mark for career receiving yardage and is within earshot of other records. "I expect him to break the records," Babers told syracuse.com. "I expect him to have a really good year. A really good year." - The Post-Standard

  07/13/21 - WR Taj HarrisrSr/2024, Rutgers, 6-1, 180 (DS#999 WR) + More +

Syracuse football announced that it will send defensive lineman Josh Black, wide receiver Taj Harris and offensive lineman Airon Servais to represent the program at this year's ACC Football Kickoff in Charlotte. The event will be held over two days on July 21 and 22. Portions of the event will be televised on ACC Network. Black and Servais are veteran leaders who chose to return to Syracuse for extra seasons this year. Both will be playing their sixth year of football for the Orange in 2021, an option provided to them because of the coronavirus pandemic's impact on last year's season.

Both were among last year's public leaders and were often called on to verbalize the team's struggles as the Orange won just one game. Despite the difficult experience, they were among many seniors who opted to return to try to end their careers on a positive note. Harris is a fourth-year player who has put up the customary gaudy numbers that Syracuse's top receiving options have produced since head coach Dino Babers took over the program. With more than 500 yards in each of his three seasons, Harris already ranks among the 10 leaders in school history in both receptions and receiving yardage. He caught 58 passes for 733 yards last season, both career-highs. - The Post-Standard

Syracuse coach Dino Babers said receiver Taj Harris apologized to the team for an obscene hand gesture late in Saturday's loss to Liberty. Asked whether the incident will impact Harris' playing status for Saturday, Babers said discipline will be handled internally. "Taj stood up on Sunday, he apologized to the team," Babers said. "We have addressed that. It's internal discipline, and we will handle that within the family. Young men making a mistake. We all understand." A television camera captured Harris' gesture with two minutes remaining in the game and SU trailing, 38-21. The image was shown during the broadcast. - The Post-Standard

  10/20/20 - WR Taj HarrisrSr/2024, Rutgers, 6-1, 180 (DS#999 WR) + More +

Syracuse athletic director John Wildhack said an obscene hand gesture by junior wide receiver Taj Harris late in Saturday's loss to Liberty was "inappropriate" and "unacceptable" and that the football program will address the incident. A television camera captured Harris' gesture with two minutes remaining in the game and SU trailing, 38-21. The image was shown during the broadcast. It's unclear if the gesture will impact Harris' playing status for next week's game at No. 1 Clemson. "Taj Harris' gesture late in today's game was inappropriate, unacceptable and in no way reflective of the standards we expect of our student-athletes," Wildhack said in a statement Saturday evening. "His behavior will be addressed by the football program within the department of athletics." Harris led all receivers in Saturday's game with nine catches for 96 yards and a touchdown. On the season, Harris leads SU with 26 receptions, 434 yards and four scores. - The Post-Standard
