A transfer from Alcorn State, Cole was a crucial addition to a thin safety spot. An FCS All-American, Cole totaled 162 tackles, 91 solo, six interceptions and 4.5 tackles for loss over his two years at Alcorn State. This offseason and adjusting to Power Five football will be something to watch, but if he's able to do anything similar to what he did with the Braves, he'll help the defense in a big way. - Courier Journal

The status of Auburn's season opener - the date, the location and the opponent - is now up in the air. The SWAC on Monday announced a decision to postpone all scheduled fall sports, including football, amid the coronavirus pandemic following a vote by th e conference's presidents and chancellors. The SWAC plans to play a seven-game conference schedule in the spring, but that means Auburn's scheduled season opener against Alcorn State is off the 2020 schedule.Auburn was set to play Alcorn State on Sept. 5 at Jordan-Hare Stadium, with the Tigers paying the Braves $475,000 for the game, according to a copy of the game contract obtained by AL.com through an open records request. That amount was due by March 1, 2021. Although the game will not be play ed this season, a force majeure clause in the contract between the two programs could require the two sides to use "all reasonable efforts" to reschedule the contest for a future date. Since the SWAC will not be playing football this fall, the earliest p ossible date for rescheduling is 2023, as Auburn's non-conference schedule is completely set through 2022. - Birmingham News
