Brkic, who also handled all 11 of OU's kickoffs, is now 15 for 17 (.882) on field goals this season and has made all 23 of his PAT tries. His 15 field goal makes lead the nation.   Another day, another ugly win for Oklahoma. Gabe Brkic's 30-yard field goal as time expired gave the fourth-ranked Sooners a 16-13 win over West Virginia on Saturday night. Oklahoma started its final possession at its 8-yard line with 3:39 remaining. Quarterback Spencer Rattler, who was booed by the home fans on several occasions, completed all six of his passes for 54 yards on the final drive to get the Sooners into scoring range. The final possession was 14 plays and 80 yards.

Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley was disappointed that the crowd turned on Rattler and gave him credit for his late-game effort. "I'll tell you what, it takes a lot of balls to do what we did there at the end," he said. "So people better see that too." Rattler passed for 256 yards and a touchdown. Mike Woods caught eight passes for 86 yards for the Sooners (4-0, 1-0 Big 12), who won their third game by seven or fewer points this season. "We're happy to be at 4-0," Rattler said. "We're not happy, we're not satisfied with the way we're winning. But a win is a win." West Virginia (2-2, 0-1), coming off a 27-21 win over then-No. 15 Virginia Tech, was held to 226 total yards. "That was a tough, physical football game, and I thought we went toe-to-toe with Oklahoma here in their back yard," West Virginia coach Neal Brown said. "If you look at it, we had chances. I think absolutely, we had some chances. The game played out in a good way for us, and we just ran out of time." - Oklahoma/AP College Football

Oklahoma kicker Gabe Brkic's run of perfection met its demise. The redshirt sophomore missed a 54-yard field goal attempt as time expired in the second quarter against Iowa State on Saturday. It marked his first-ever missed field goal during his college career. Brkic made his first kick of the night against Iowa State, which came on OU's first possession and measured at 18 yards to give the team an early 3-0 lead. Brkic later made a career-best 51-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter, which was the longest field goal made by an OU kicker since Austin Seibert nailed a 51-yarder against West Virginia in 2017. Brkic connected on all 17 of his field-goal attempts and knocked down 52 of 52 extra points last season. The Chardon, Ohio, native has been OU's starting kicker since replacing Calum Sutherland last season. He missed OU's season opener against Missouri State and made his 2020 debut against Kansas State, but did not try any field goals in the Sooners' 38-35 loss to the Wildcats. - Norman Transcript

Oklahoma kicker Calum Sutherland has been suspended indefinitely. A school spokesman made the announcement in a brief statement Friday, one day before the sixth-ranked Sooners play at Kansas. Sutherland, a sophomore, was arrested Sept. 21 on a public intoxication charge. The statement did not specify a reason for the suspension. In his most recent action, Sutherland made two field goals to help the Sooners beat UCLA 48-14 on Sept. 14. Oklahoma had a bye on the Saturday that Sutherland was arrested. Sutherland did not play last Saturday as the Sooners rolled past Texas Tech 55-16. Redshirt freshman Gabe Brkic stepped in and made all seven of his extra points and both of his field goal attempts. - AP College Football
