The 2022 NFL draft ended Saturday evening with seven players from Alabama having been selected, the fewest for the school since 2016. Cornerback Jalyn Armour-Davis' selection early in the fourth round proved to be the final of the draft for the Tide, whi ch saw cornerback Josh Jobe and outside linebacker Christopher Allen not drafted despite projections both would be picked. Jobe intends to sign with the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent, his agents tweeted. Allen intends to sign with the De nver Broncos, 9News reported. - Birmingham News

After wide receiver John Metchie was lost for the season because of a torn ACL, Alabama will be down another starter for the College Football Playoff. Cornerback Josh Jobe underwent foot surgery this week and is expected to miss the remainder of the seas on, On3 Sports reported Thursday. Rivals.com reported the surgery was on Jobe's toe. Kool-Aid McKinstry and Jalyn Armour-Davis, who missed the past two games with a hip injury, would presumably serve as Alabama's starting cornerbacks for the Cotton Bowl against Cincinnati on Dec. 31. - Birmingham News

Alabama cornerbacks Josh Jobe and Jalyn Armour-Davis didn't start the game with Mercer on Saturday. Jobe was spotted in street clothes for the top-ranked Crimson Tide's home debut against the FCS team. It wasn't clear why the pair weren't available. Neit her went through pre-game warmups. Freshman Kool-Aid McKinstry, one of Alabama's top recruits in the latest class, started opposite junior Marcus Banks. An Alabama spokesman said coach Nick Saban would address their status after the game. - AP College Fo otball

Almost seven weeks since college athletes could beginning earning revenue from their names, Images and likenesses, a group of the Tide's top football players has signed with the same agency to represent them. Wide receiver John Metchie, running back Bria n Robinson, cornerback Josh Jobe and safety Jordan Battle all joined GSE Worldwide, the firm announced Monday evening. The group also handles marketing deals for former Alabama stars Jaylen Waddle and Irv Smith, Jr. Under relaxed NCAA rules, college athl etes are allowed to sign with agencies to represent them as long as those agencies do not begin to negotiate professional playing contracts. - Birmingham News

No UA defender has more pass breakups in the last five games than cornerback Josh Jobe, who's broken up five passes in that stretch. Jobe was targeted by LSU multiple times on the opening possession and has been through many recent games, given Patrick S urtain II's track record, but he has recently produced against increased targets. "The big thing is we didn't give up explosive plays when we were in coverage," UA coach Nick Saban said. "I think Josh has done a really good job for us. He's really mainta ined a level of consistency in his play, which has really been good all year long." - Montgomery Advertiser

UA has plenty of options of options for its second cornerback alongside Surtain, but it seems to have placed them all on Jobe's shoulders. "I think the big thing in this conference and within this defense, we need to have two corners that can lock it dow n and I think that's something that Patrick and Josh should be able to do for us and they've done well up to this point," UA defensive coordinator Pete Golding said. Jobe was clearly UA's No. 3 cornerback last year, given he is the one who started the Ci trus Bowl in Diggs' absence. But UA since added two options (Williams Jr. and Robinson, who practiced a few times in December) and worked to develop its underclassmen options. Thus, if the Jobe experiment does not go the way both parties plan it, Alabama can quickly pivot elsewhere - Williams is likely to get plenty of reps at the star position, thus won't be out of practice. But the early reps are going to Jobe, and a change would force someone to get acclimated with less time than Jobe had. - Montgome ry Advertiser

Defensive coordinator Pete Golding on Thursday evening left little room for doubt that Jobe would remain as a starter in 2020. "I think the big thing in this conference and within this defense, we need to have two corners that can lock it down," he said, "And I think that's something that Patrick [Surtain] and Josh should be able to do for us and they've done well up to this point."Jobe, rated as a four-star prospect and No. 109 nationally by 247 Sports in 2018, was a rare New England recruit by Alabama. He played his final season of high school football at Chesire Academy in Connecticut after moving from Miami. After limited defensive playing time in 2018, Jobe made his first start in last season's opener against Duke as a fifth defensive back. His contributions then mostly came on special teams until the Citrus Bowl, when he made the game-ending interception - his first with the Tide. - Birmingham News
