  2021 ALL-SUN BELT FIRST TEAM (COACHES): LB - D'Marco Jackson, App State (Sr., LB - Spartanburg, S.C.),...The first-team picks included four App State defenders (Jackson, DL Demetrius Taylor, CB Steven Jones Jr., CB Shaun Jolly), four App State offensive players (OL Baer Hunter, WR Corey Sutton, OL Cooper Hodges, RB Nate Noel) and one App State specialist (K Chandler Staton). Jackson joins Akeem Davis-Gaither (2019) and Ronald Blair (2015) as Sun Belt Defensive Players of the Year from App State. Jackson is one of only two FBS players this year with at least 100 tackles (103), 15.0 tackles for loss, 5.0 sacks, five passes defended (he has six) and one interception. He's the only Sun Belt player to rank in the top 20 in each of the first four of those categories, and he's one of only five players nationally to have more than 100 tackles on a team successful enough to be receiving AP Top 25 votes. - Appalachian State Football

The Spartanburg, S.C., product accumulated nine tackles, 2.0 tackles-for-loss, a sack, an interception, a pass breakup and a quarterback hurry—all in the first three quarters.   NOV 16 SUN BELT DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: D'Marco Jackson, App State,...Inside linebacker D'Marco Jackson was all over the field in App State's 17-13 win against Georgia State, racking up a career-high 2.0 tackles for loss with nine tackles, a sack, two pass breakups and a quarterback hurry. He also recovered a first-quarter fumble that set up the Mountaineers' first score of the game. His third-down PBU in the fourth quarter forced a Panther punt that preceded App State's game-winning touchdown drive.
