Memphis senior defensive back John Broussard Jr. was shot in the leg Sunday night near the university's main campus, according to a report from Local24. The Memphis Police Department confirmed to the Commercial Appeal that a shooting occurred on Spottswood Avenue near Memphis' main campus on Aug. 30, but did not named Broussard or any others involved. The shooting happened while Broussard and two others were standing outside by a vehicle. A witness heard gunshots after observing "about 10 people fighting in the street." MPD confirmed a 22-year-old man was shot in the leg and transported to a local hospital in non-critical condition and that a 20-year-old man was shot in the lower back. Broussard played in eight games last season and is listed on Memphis' depth chart behind Jacobi Francis. Senior wide receiver Damonte Coxie was also listed as a witness in the report. - Memphis Commercial Appeal
