Former Memphis defensive lineman Joseph Dorceus will remain in the AAC. Dorceus is heading to Tulane as a graduate transfer, he announced Thursday. He entered the transfer portal in January after starting the previous two seasons. In an Instagram post, D orceus thanked his Memphis coaches, the athletics advisers and the city of Memphis for supporting him. He also said he'd be "grateful for the blessings, lessons learned and my brothers that went to war with me." Tulane faces Memphis at Liberty Bowl Memor ial Stadium on either Nov. 26 or 27.Dorceus walked on at Memphis following the footsteps of older brother Doroland. He was placed on scholarship by previous coach Mike Norvell after the 2017 season. He appeared in 50 games for the Tigers, includin g 22 starts. His 35 tackles for loss are eighth all-time in Memphis history and he was All-AAC honorable mention in 2019 when the Tigers won the conference championship and reached the Cotton Bowl. - Memphis Commercial Appeal

Two more Memphis football players, including another starter, entered the transfer portal Saturday. Memphis senior defensive lineman and two-year starter Joseph Dorceus confirmed to The Commercial Appeal that he will leave as a graduate transfer. Junior quarterback Markevion Quinn, who opted out in November, also confirmed he is transferring. Dorceus arrived as a walk-on in 2016 but grew into a two-year starter who appeared in 50 games, including 22 starts. He was placed on scholarship by former Tigers coach Mike Norvell after the 2017 season. Dorceus had 141 tackles in four seasons and his 35 tackles for loss is tied for eighth all-time in program history. He had 14 1/2 tackles for loss in 2019 and was an All-AAas the Tigers won the AAC championship a nd played in the Cotton Bowl. - Memphis Commercial Appeal

2019 ALL-AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE HONORABLE MENTION (COACHES): DL Joseph Dorceus, Memphis, Jr.,...Dorceus leads the Tigers and ranks sixth in the league with a career-high 14.5 tackles for loss this season. Twice he has recorded 4.0 tackles for loss, most recently in Memphis' win over Cincinnati on Black Friday. He also ranks 13th in the AAC with 5.0 sacks, one sack shy of matching his career-high of 6.0 set in 2018. Also, against Cincinnati, Dorceus recorded a season-high 2.0 sacks.
