John Lovett, Penn State, Player News

  04/26/21 - RB John LovettrSr/2022, Penn State, 6-0, 215 (DS#36 RB) + More +

Running back, wide receiver and tight end all remain clear strengths on Penn State's roster. The running back room doesn't have an established leader on the field, but still has a diverse set of skills that can provide different advantages in different situations. John Lovett - in his first public action as a Nittany Lion since transferring from Baylor - showed why the team brought him in. He has the explosiveness and athleticism to be a home run threat out of the backfield, while also displaying strength as a runner. He will combine with Devyn Ford, Caziah Holmes, Keyvone Lee and Noah Cain to have a formidable fivesome for the Nittany Lions. - Centre Times

Penn State football has landed a commitment from former Baylor running back John Lovett. Lovett made the announcement via Twitter on Monday afternoon. The 6-foot, 212-pound Burlington, New Jersey, native played four seasons for the Bears, totaling 1,803 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns on 355 carries and 183 receiving yards and one touchdown on 29 catches. He is a former three-star recruit and was ranked the No. 506 overall player in the Class of 2017, according to 247Sports. Lovett only played in five games this season for Baylor due to injury. In 2020, he tallied 130 yards and a touchdown on 45 carries, while adding 49 yards and a touchdown on nine catches. As a grad transfer, Lovett will be immediately eligible to play for the Nittany Lions next season. - Centre Times

Senior running back John Lovett (7) will wear a single digit for the fourth straight year. "I think he's a great leader," Brewer said of Lovett. "I think he has a tremendous work ethic, probably one of the hardest workers on the team, and he just really cares for the guys around him. I know he has my back, as well as the other guys on the offense as well as the defense. Scholarship or walk-on, he's the same to everyone, and I think that's pretty special." - Waco Tribune Herald
