Andrew Stueber, Michigan, Player News
|
Another fifth-year senior who elected to take advantage of the extra year of eligibility, Stueber returns in 2020 as an anchor along Michigan's offensive line. He's not only experienced but versatile, having played tackle and guard since arriving at Mich igan in 2017. An ACL injury sidelined him for all of 2019, but Stueber was productive as a guard in the shortened 2019 season. He's expected to kick out to his more natural position, tackle, in 2020 - but the 6-foot-7, 339-pound Connecticut native could project as a guard in the NFL. A full season injury-free with high marks could make him an appealing pro prospect in 2022, especially given Michigan's history of producing NFL-caliber offensive linemen. - Ann Arbor News

Andrew Stueber, accustomed to juggling two different roles along the Michigan offensive line, is back at his preferred spot. The fifth-year senior started spring practice at right tackle and expects to play there this fall, he told reporters on Thursday. It's a position Stueber is most familiar with, having started 11 games at right tackle during the 2018 season. "I enjoy tackle. Tackle, I'm most natural at," Stueber said. "I came in as a tackle." But injuries - both to him and elsewhere along the offen sive line - forced Michigan's coaching staff to do some rearranging. Steuber was sidelined in 2019 with a torn ACL, an injury that forced him to miss the entire season for rehab. He returned healthy and ready to go in 2020, but the decision was made to m ove him inside in favor of Jalen Mayfield and the up-and-coming Ryan Hayes. The 6-foot-7, 339-pound Stueber, the staff figured, had the size, experience and versatility to fit inside. - Ann Arbor News

2020 ALL-BIG TEN FOOTBALL HONORABLE MENTION (COACHES): Andrew Stueber,...Stueber has been part of an offensive line that has helped pave the way for some of Haskins' big games. A veteran voice, Stueber provided stability and critical leadership along the offensive line. He began the season at right guard, but kicked out for starts at right tackle through the last four weeks. Stueber returned this season after suffering an ACL injury in training camp leading up to the 2019 campaign. After an offseason of rehab, he came back to be an anchor for the Wolverines up front this season. This marks the first conference honor of Stueber's career. - Michigan Football
