  Christian Carter threw two touchdown passes and Jamari Venter ran for one and Merrimack beat Long Island 24-10 on Saturday. Merrimack (6-5) built a 17-0 lead when Carter threw a 9-yard TD pass to Johnny Rosario to end a 12-play, 70-yard drive 91 seconds before halftime. Carter threw a 7-yard scoring pass to Anthony Dandini in the second quarter. The Warriors inherited a short field after a 26-yard punt by Briant DeFelice and took over at the Long Island's 22-yard line. Corey Resendes kicked a 36-yard field goal for a 10-0 lead with 1:42 before the end of the first quarter.

After a scoreless third, early in the fourth, Camden Orth threw a 32-yard scoring pass to Jake Bofshever. DeFelice added a 38-yard field goal to reduce the margin to a touchdown. On the ensuing kickoff, Rodney Samson returned it 73 yards to Long Island's eight-yard line. Venter ran it in from there.   Christian Carter rushed for two touchdowns on just four carries and Cam Hayes threw for two more scores as Merrimack thrashed Franklin Pierce 57-0 on Saturday afternoon. Carter rushed for 93 yards and Jamari Venter carried five times for 90 yards and a touchdown. Marquis Spence hauled in four passes for 68 yards and two touchdowns against the outmanned Division II Ravens. Carter scampered in from the 38 for the first score with less than a minute gone in the first quarter. Caleb Holden intercepted a Drew Campanale pass, returning it 49 yards for another score with 12:54 remaining in the first. Matt Brehon crashed in from the 3 to put the Warriors up 21-0 going into the second quarter. Merrimack took a 41-0 lead into the break and coasted to the win.   OCT 28 NEC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: CHRISTIAN CARTER, MERRIMACK, QB, So., 6-1, 205 lbs., Baltimore, MD/Mount Saint Joseph,...WEEK 9 Stats: 344 yards total offense, 287 pass yards, 64.7 completion pct., 2 TD passes, 57 rush yards, TD rush...Carter carried Merrimack to its second straight victory over a FCS program. The dual-threat quarterback eclipsed his season-high passing total while accounting for all three of the Warriors' touchdowns in the 24-21 triumph over Big South member Presbyterian. Carter finished the win with 344 yards of total offense, including a season-best 287 yards through the air.

The sophomore, who completed 64.7 percent of his pass attempts, netted 57 yards and the game-winning touchdown on the ground. The 344 yards of total offense represent the seventh-highest total by a NEC athlete this season. Carter threw two first-half touchdown passes (10, 22), staking the Warriors to a 14-7 advantage in the second quarter. With Merrimack facing a 21-17 fourth-quarter deficit, Carter engineered a 70-yard go-ahead touchdown drive. He went 3-for-3 passing for 50 yards and gained the other 20 yards on the ground. His nine-yard TD run capped the eight-play possession with 3:08 remaining in the game. - NEC Football

  Christian Carter accounted for all three of Merrimack's touchdowns and the Warriors defeated Presbyterian College 24-21 on Saturday. Carter's nine-yard touchdown run with 3:08 to play put Merrimack (4-4) ahead 24-21. Presbyterian (0-8) drove 52 yards to the Merrimack 23 on its ensuing possession but Parker Maddrey came up short on a game-tying 40-yard field goal attempt with 30 seconds left. Carter completed 22 of 34 passes for 287 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. He carried 11 times for 57 yards. Marquis Spence caught 12 passes for 118 yards and a touchdown. Presbyterian took a 20-17 lead on a 28-yard pass from Tyler Huff to Dohnte Meyers in the middle of the fourth quarter. Huff completed 17 of 33 passes for 244 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. Jarius Jeter had 118 rushing yards on 15 carries for the Blue Hose.   Christian Carter threw for one touchdown and passed for another, Corey Resendes kicked three second-half field goals and Merrimack defeated Delaware State 30-21 on Saturday. The win marks Merrimack's first of the season against an FCS opponent in its inaugural FCS campaign. The Warriors picked up their second-ever win against an FCS foe, joining the 2013 team that beat Wagner. The Warriors (3-4) scored the game's final 16 points on a 42-yard run by Jamari Venter followed by Resendes' three field goals. Delaware State (1-6) did not score in the second half and the Hornets' only second-half drive into Merrimack territory ended in a lost fumble. Carter passed for 194 yards and ran for 73. Venter finished with 69 yards rushing. The Warrior defense had four sacks. Bryant Dallas rushed for 102 yards on 13 carries and scored two touchdowns for Delaware State. - AP College Football

  Christian Carter threw four touchdown passes - two each to Johnny Rosario and Marquis Spence - and Matt Brehon ran for 175 yards and three scores as Merrimack steamrolled NAIA member Mayville State 76-7 on Saturday. Carter completed 14 of 20 passes for 206 yards with one interception. Rosario finished with two catches, scoring on 40-and 53-yard strikes in the second quarter. Spence caught a 7-yard TD pass in the first quarter and hauled in a 6-yarder for a TD in the second, finished with four receptions for 35 yards. Brehon did his damage with just six carries, scoring TDs on runs of 70 and 16 yards in the third quarter and a 73-yard burst in the fourth. Jamari Venter added 102 yards rushing on nine carries as the Warriors (2-2) piled up 571 yards of offense.
