2021 ALL-SEC FIRST TEAM (COACHES): DB Montaric Brown, Arkansas,...Brown created havoc in the Hogs secondary by tying for the SEC lead with five interceptions, which is tied for the second-most in the FBS. Additionally, he added 53 tackles, 1.0 tackle for loss, five passes broken up, a fumble recovery and forced fumble this y ear. The Ashdown, Ark. native is one of just two players in the SEC to produce multiple interceptions with at least one forced fumble and one fumble recovery this season. As one of the most experienced members of the Arkansas secondary with 21 starts in 29 games, redshirt senior Montaric Brown knows a lot is expected of him. Brown (6-0, 195) feels he will be up to the challenge and wants to establish himself as the best c ornerback in the SEC. "I want to just continue working on my craft, working on my technique every day and having my confidence level (high). Just keep building to where I feel like I can guard anybody and feel like I am the best corner in the SEC," he sa id Sunday.Brown added that part of that means putting the last play behind him quickly. He played 576 defensive snaps last season, and 80 on special teams, so it is a must. "Just having amnesia and getting rid of that play," Brown said. "You just have to come back the next play and do your part. The time will come. You can't keep thinking on that mistake and have to get past it." Arkansas secondary coach Sam Carter is high on the abilities of Brown, who had 30 tackles, 1 interception and 1 fumble recovery last season. "You can just tell he was in the weight room and Coach (Jamil) Walker got him bigger and faster," Carter said. "He just has to trust what we are doing and trust his technique. Busta is a football player. "I think we missed him last year. I think after Mississippi State we missed him for or five games because of a concussion. But he is our guy. He is our No. 1 corner." - Northwest Arkansas Times
