LSU football right tackle Austin Deculus does not foresee a major endorsement via the new freedom that student-athletes have to make money through their name, image and likeness. "I'm not really expecting any NIL deals," the senior from Mamou said with a laugh at the SEC Media Days. "Guys like Derek Stingley, the pretty boys of the team, they're going to be the faces of NIL. I know the only person who loves my face is my girlfriend. That's about it." Stingley, a junior All-American cornerback for the Ti gers, has an agreement with Walk-On's restaurants. Senior quarterback Myles Brennan, who will battle with returning sophomore starter Max Johnson for the starting job when practice begins Aug. 6, has agreements with Smalls Sliders and Smoothie King. Hair care, though, could be a possibility for Deculus, whose locks are long enough to stretch out of his helmet. "My fingers are crossed for hair products," he said. "Or food deals. You know, 'He eats this. You can grow up like him." Deculus is 6-foot-6 and 331 pounds, so how about a "Got milk" ad? "I'm not really expecting many things," he said. "I'll take a few here and there. LSU's depth on the offensive line is very similar to how experienced the unit was going into the 2019 season. The Tigers returned four starters from the 2018 season and thrived in the team's transition to a modern spread offense. Now, thanks to the NCAA' s COVID-19 extended eligibility ruling, every starter from the 2020 season decided to return. Austin Deculus will be a fourth-year starter at right tackle, and, a year after being the only returning starter up front, he says this veteran group has what i t takes to reclaim the Joe Moore Award for nation's top offensive line. Expect left tackle Dare Rosenthal, left guard Ed Ingram and center Liam Shanahan to have their positions locked up. LSU starting right tackle Austin Deculus announced Monday night that he will be returning for next season, adding yet another returning piece to an offensive line that now has four of its five starters officially coming back. Starting left tackle Dare Ro senthal remains the only Tigers offensive lineman not to publicly announce his intentions, while left guard Ed Ingram, center Liam Shanahan, right guard Chasen Hines and Deculus have now made theirs known. Deculus, a three-year starter, is perhaps the mo st crucial piece to return on the offensive line. No lineman has started in as many games as Deculus has in his four-year career (34), and his 6-foot-6, 331-pound frame gives the Tigers an experienced big man on the outside edge in a year in which the un it is looking to rebound. - Baton Rouge Advocate

LSU starting right tackle Austin Deculus did not practice when preseason camp began Monday, and coach Ed Orgeron said the third-year starter is going to be out for "a little bit." Orgeron told WNXX-FM, 104.5 ESPN's "Off the Bench" that true freshman Marc us Dumervil and redshirt freshman Charles Turner are practicing at the position in place of Deculus. Orgeron later told reporters in a news conference that sophomore Cameron Wire was also moved to right tackle to help with depth. "Those guys, they're doi ng good," Orgeron said Tuesday morning. "Young guys that are doing well, filling in. Again, Austin's going to be our starter. But those guys gotta be able to provide depth in the rotation. So this is good for us." Deculus is the only returning starter on the offensive line from LSU's national championship season. He started in 13 games, missing Ole Miss and Arkansas due to an injury, and he started in 11 games as a sophomore in 2018. The 6-foot-6, 311-pound Wire played in six games in 2019, and the East Ascension High graduate's experience exceeds the others backing up Deculus. - Baton Rouge Advocate
