2021 ALL-SEC SECOND TEAM (COACHES): DL Phidarian Mathis, Alabama,... The University of Alabama football team placed 10 players on the 2021 All-Southeastern Conference Team, the league office announced Tuesday. John Metchie III (WR) made the second-team o ffense, while Jalyn Armour-Davis (DB), Phidarian Mathis (DL) and Henry To'oTo'o (LB) made up the second-team defense. Asked about fourth-year junior defensive lineman Phidarian Mathis, Saban said Wednesday, "I think Phil has played really well, he's got his weight down his quickness is better. That's the thing that I think has helped him the most. I think he's playing w ith a lot more initial quickness, moving better, rushing better, the guy's got a really really good motor. He plays hard all the time and his production has increased with those improvements. I'm really pleased with him; I think he sets a really good exa mple for the young guys so we're pleased with that as well." - Birmingham News
