Nine South Alabama football players plan to take advantage of the NCAA's blanket waiver granting an additional season of eligibility for 2021. Linebackers Christian Bell, Chris Henderson, Shawn Jennings and Roy Yancey, cornerback Devin Rockette and safet ies Tre Young, Patrick Rosette, DJ Exilhomme and Kwameh Lewis are expected to return next season, head coach Kane Wommack confirmed to AL.com on Friday. The NCAA in August passed a rule amid the COVID-19 pandemic allowing 2020 seniors to return as "super -seniors" and not count toward roster limits next season. Eight other Jaguars players have chosen not to return in 2021, ending their college football careers. Linebacker Riley Cole, wide receiver Kawaan Baker and defensive lineman Jeremiah Littles have all chosen to enter the NFL draft. - Birmingham News
