Mulbah Car went 35 days between the second and third games of his senior season. He made up for lost time one play into the second quarter, bounding 44 yards up the gut to put Houston on the one-yard-line. The Cougars (3-5) would come three points shy of upsetting the No. 16 SMU Mustangs (8-0) in a 34-31 loss, but Cars efforts had little to do with the shortfall. In most cases a long in-season absence would be due to an injury. But this is not a normal campaign in Houston.
