2021 PIONEER DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR (COACHES): Vaughn Taylor Jr., Morehead State,...Taylor, of Washington, D.C., led all PFL defenders with 23 tackles for loss and his 2.09 tackles for loss per game, ranking second among all FCS athletes in 2021. H e also finished the season tied for second in the PFL with 9.5 sacks and was 14th with 71 total tackles, ranking 20th among FCS players in sacks per game (0.86). He recorded a sack in eight of 11 games in 2021, including all five games in October, and ha d a tackle for loss in all 11 games. 2019 ALL-PIONEER FOOTBALL LEAGUE FIRST TEAM (COACHES): DL Vaughn Taylor Jr., Morehead State,...Taylor, Jr., finished as the PFL leader in tackles for loss with 18, the third-best single-season total in program history. He had at least one tackle in the b ackfield in 10 of the 12 games. The Washington, D.C. native ranked second on the team with 63 total stops, including a PFL-best 5.5 sacks. He also totaled seven quarterback hurries, recovered two fumbles and forced two opponent fumbles. Taylor, Jr., was named PFL Defensive Player of the Week three times, which is the most awards for an Eagle individual in the PFL era (2001-). - Morehead State Football

OCT 21 PIONEER LEAGUE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Vaughn Taylor Jr., Morehead State, Junior, Defensive End, Washington, D.C.,...Taylor Jr. earns his second consecutive weekly honor after leading Morehead State with 10 tackles in a 31-20 victory against Butler, Saturday. He posted his second 3.5 tackle-for-loss outing this season and harassed the Butler quarterback with 1.5 sacks and two quarterback hurries. With Morehead State leading by 10 points in the fourth quarter, Butler started a drive at MSU's 30-yard line only to see Taylor Jr. record a 15-yard sack to push them out of field goal position and into a punt. - Pioneer League Football

OCT 14 PIONEER LEAGUE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Vaughn Taylor Jr., Morehead State, Junior, Defensive End, Washington, D.C.,...Taylor Jr. was credited with 2.5 sacks, including 1.5 in a crucial fourth quarter as Morehead State rallied from a late defi cit for a 30-22 PFL victory at Jacksonville, Saturday. With the Eagles trailing 22-16, Taylor recorded a solo sack that forced a Dolphins punt from its own 10-yard line and helped set up the offense at midfield for the eventual go-ahead score. On the nex t Jacksonville possession, Taylor picked up a share of a sack to put the Dolphins behind the chains and ultimately a turnover on downs deep in its own territory to set up an Eagles insurance touchdown. SEPT 2/WEEK 1 PIONEER LEAGUE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Vaughn Taylor Jr., Morehead State, Junior, Defensive End, Washington, D.C.,...Taylor had six tackles, including 3.5 for a loss, in Morehead State's 44-7 nonconference win against Union (Ky.). The Eagles leader in tackles for loss in 2018 picked up where he left off, quickly posting 3.5 in the season-opener. He also had a quarterback sack, broke up a pass and was credited with a quarterback hurry. The sack helped keep Union off the scoreboard lat e in the third quarter, coming on 3rd-and-Goal to deny a score with Union missing a field goal attempt on the next play. - Pioneer League Football
