Harris has matured a lot as a football player since he last hit the field in 2018. He said he used to view his college football career simply as a vehicle to get him to realize his NFL dreams. Now in his sixth season at Toledo, he wants to take some more time to savor the experience. "The last couple seasons, I was in it for a completely different reason," Harris said. "At the root of it, I always loved football, and I've always been in love with the game. Now I think it's a lot deeper than that. Before in 2018 when I played I was truly only focused on the NFL. I wanted to leave my mark at Toledo so I could better myself for the NFL to prove to everyone in my entire football career that I can make it. Now it's less of a focus on that and a lot more foc used on the experience - being around the team, learning the actual game from my coaches, and my relationships. "It's really about the full experience for me now. I'm more interested in how I can affect and build relationships with the entire staff and c ommunity of Toledo football." - Toledo Blade

University of Toledo football coach Jason Candle said Friday senior center Bryce Harris has suffered a knee injury and will miss the 2019 season. Harris was a second-team All-Mid-American Conference performer last season and was a preseason candidate thi s season for the Rimington Award given to the nation's top center. With 30 career starts, Harris was expected to be the leader of the offensive line this season and his absence will test the depth of Toledo's offensive line as a unit.Candle acknow ledged that Harris will be a tough guy to replace with his talent and experience at a very important position. "That's a big blow for our football team and our offensive front," Candle said. "That guy is an extension of your coaching staff. That guy's at MAC media day. He is one of the faces for what this thing looks like." - Toledo Blade
