  Alonzo Booth ran for 178 yards and three touchdowns, caught another and Eastern Kentucky's four touchdowns in the fourth quarter sent it to a 49-17 win over Western Carolina on Saturday. Eastern Kentucky (3-6) scored three touchdowns in consecutive possessions with the longest drive lasting 46 seconds. Up 21-10, wide receiver Jackson Beerman threw a 63-yard score to fellow receiver Jacquez Jones with 14:40 left. Following an interception, Booth ran it in from 6-yards 90 seconds later, and after forcing the Catamounts to a three-and-out, Isaiah Velez threw a 66-yard score to Beerman with 11:23 to go. Before halftime, Ricky Palao scooped Velez's fumble on a sack to give the Catamounts a 10-7 advantage with 11:40 left before halftime. The lead lasted a mere 14 seconds as Davion Ross returned the ensuing kickoff 94 yards for the lead. Velez threw a 69-yard touchdown to Booth to extend the margin to 21-10 four minutes later.   Eastern Kentucky used a balanced ground attack and four field goals from Samuel Hayworth and the Colonels controlled Eastern Illinois 33-6 on Saturday. Alonzo Booth, Parker McKinney, and Ellis Cain each scored touchdowns while Daryl McCleskey Jr. led Eastern Kentucky (5-3, 3-1 Ohio Valley Conference) in rushing yards with 79 on 18 carries. The Colonels had five players rush for 265 yards.

Hayworth gave special teams a boost when he made of 4 of 5 field goals. He made kicks of 35, 28, 25, and 23 yards in succession to turn a 14-0 halftime lead into a 26-point margin with 6:17 left in the game. Both teams struggled in the passing game as McKinney completed 2-of-9 passes for 14 yards and was intercepted once. Harry Woodbery threw the Panthers' (0-9, 0-5) lone touchdown but was just 9 of 28 for 49 yards. EKU held Eastern Illinois to 89 yards of offense and the Panthers were 0 for 15 on third-down conversions though 2 for 3 converting fourth down. - AP College Football

  Alonzo Booth carried seven times for 128 yards and three touchdowns and Eastern Kentucky rolled past Valparaiso 53-7 in a season-opener on Thursday night. Booth scored two of his touchdowns on short runs early in the second quarter but the rout was already on after the Colonels scored twice in the game's first three minutes. Daryl McCleskey Jr. scored on a 64-yard run and quarterback Dakota Allen ran for the 2-point conversion. On the Crusaders' second play from scrimmage, linebacker Steven Crowder sacked Chris Duncan, who fumbled.

Corey Glass recovered the loose ball and ran 29 yards for a touchdown and a 15-0 lead. The Colonels added Booth's two touchdowns and a field goal in the second quarter and led 32-0 at halftime. Booth scored on an 86-yard run in the fourth quarter. Duncan connected with Ollie Reese for a 61-yard touchdown pass on Valpo's first drive of the second half, the Crusaders' lone score.
