2020 ALL-ACC FOOTBALL FIRST TEAM (COACHES/MEDIA): DT - Alim McNeill, NC State, 106,...One of the most dominant nose tackles in college football - he tallied 26 tackles for the season. He had a pick six in the win at Virginia - he tipped the ball, caught it and returned it 18 yards for a score. Also caused and recovered a fumble in the season opening win. - NC State Football

Saturday won't just be the last home game at Carter-Finley Stadium for the N.C. State seniors. Hours before the regular-season finale against Georgia Tech, McNeill made it official - that Saturday would be his final game at Carter-Finley Stadium. McNeill posted on Twitter that he would forgo his final year of eligibility at N.C. State and declare for the NFL Draft. The Wolfpack knows a thing or two about sending defensive linemen to the NFL (seven former defensive linemen have been drafted since Doeren took over in 2013) and McNeill is expected to be the next in line. McNeill has started 18 games in three years at N.C. State and appeared in 35 total. He has 76 tackles heading into the contest versus Georgia Tech. He has 17.5 tackles for loss for his career and 10 sacks. McNeill picked off a pass against Virginia this season and returned it for a touchdown, the only Wolfpack defender with a pick-six this season. - Raleigh News & Observer

With just one regular-season game and one bowl game remaining, McNeill wants to focus on getting to nine wins - one in a bowl game, eight overall and seven in the ACC (which has never been done at N.C. State). But it's clear McNeill has a future in football after N.C. State. The Wolfpack knows a thing or two about sending defensive linemen to the NFL (seven former defensive linemen have been drafted since Doeren took over in 2013) and McNeill is expected to be the next in line. Whether that happens next spring or in 2022 is yet to be determined. McNeill could leave school early, or take one more college season to work on his game. It's hard to ignore the outside pundits who projected him as a potential draft pick this year, but his dad makes it easy. "The first person who sees it before anybody is my dad," McNeill said. "He'll show me and then he'll be like 'put it away.' He just tells me to keep playing. I'm trying to win games, I'm obviously going to keep playing hard so that we can win games." - Raleigh News Observer

Junior defensive end Ibrahim Kante (6-4, 256) started six games a year ago and had 15 tackles. He should be joined up front by junior defensive tackle Alim McNeill (6-2, 315) and a battle between transfer Daniel Joseph (6-3, 260) and sophomore Savion Jackson (6-3, 265). Expectations are high for McNeill, a Raleigh native who started seven games a year ago and finished with 28 tackles and 5.5 sacks. Joseph played in 24 contests at Penn State before transferring to N.C. State for his final season. - Raleigh News Observer
