San Diego State didn't need to do a nationwide search to locate a punter to replace Brandon Heicklen. Scouring the city was more than sufficient. Eight miles from the SDSU campus, Tanner Kuljian has been booming punts the past two years at USD. A graduate transfer from Temecula, Kuljian has accepted a scholarship from SDSU to handle the punting chores during his last year of eligibility. "I'm really excited for this," Kuljian said. "San Diego State has had really good specialists the past few years. I'm blessed to be part of that bunch now. I think I'm as ready as I've ever been." Kuljian earned Pioneer League Special Teams Player of the Year last season after averaging a league-high 40.6 yards a punt. Nineteen of his 38 punts were fielded for fair catches. Twelve ended up inside the 20-yard line. Six were for more than 50 yards. - San Diego Union Tribune
