Tulane defensive end Patrick Johnson was selected as the sixth pick in the seventh round (No. 234 overall) by the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday afternoon in the NFL draft. Johnson was the second Green Wave player taken on the third day of the draft, fo llowing teammate Cameron Sample, whom the Bengals took in the fourth round (No. 111 overall). Johnson is the 146th Tulane player chosen in NFL draft history, and the school has had two players selected for three of the past four drafts. Johnson, a Chatta nooga, Tennessee, native, closed his career as Tulane's all-time leader in sacks with 24 1/2 and No. 6 on the all-time list in tackles for loss with 40. - New Orleans Times Picayune

2020 ALL-AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE FIRST TEAM (COACHES): LB Patrick Johnson, Tulane,...Johnson was tabbed first team after he led The American in sacks (10.0) and tackles for loss (14.5). With his 10.0 sacks this season, Johnson became the program's a ll-time leader in career sacks with 24.5. The Chattanooga, Tennessee, native also recorded 39 tackles which ranked ninth on the team. Johnson proved once again to be one of the more dependable players on the team, as he was one of just seven players that started all 11 regular season games. During the year, Johnson was recognized twice by the league office, as he was named to the weekly honor roll (Sept. 28) and was selected defensive player of the week (Nov. 9). - Tulane Football

NOV 9 AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Patrick Johnson, Tulane, Sr., DE, Chattanooga, Tenn.,...Johnson led a Tulane defense that limited East Carolina to 35 rushing yards in a 38-21 win against the Pirates. Johnson had six tackl es, including three sacks, along with two forced fumbles and two quarterback hurries.
