Teven Jenkins, Oklahoma State, Player News

With all 32 NFL teams represented on Thursday at OSU's Pro Day, Jenkins got to show his toughness, his strength and the reasons why he's likely to be the first Cowboy selected in the draft later this month. Jenkins measured in at 6-foot-5 7/8 and 317 pounds, then put on a show in the weight room, bench pressing 225 pounds 36 times. He clocked good times in the agility drills, including a 4.96-second 40-yard dash, and showed his physicality in positional work. He didn't hold back in the post-workout interview, either, when asked what type of player a team would get by drafting him.

"A tough, physical, nasty mother(expletive)," Jenkins said. "A dude that doesn't shy away from hits, a dude that actually wants to get physical, and a dude that's gonna bust his ass." Sometime prior to last season, Jenkins finally tapped into that nasty side that elevated the big, athletic lineman to first-round material. Coaches told him he needed to be more aggressive than in the past. "I took that personally," Jenkins said. "Coming into the year, it paid off for myself, because of what I've done on the field and put on film. It's a big part of who I am and a big part of what I am on the field, because I do believe I'm the best finisher in this draft and that sets me apart from any other O-linemen." - Daily Oklahoman

Teven Jenkins' Oklahoma State career is officially over. The redshirt senior offensive lineman suffered a lower back injury in the Bedlam game on Nov. 21, and announced on Monday morning that he would sit out the rest of the season to prepare himself for the NFL Draft. "This past week has left me with a lot of difficult decisions to make for my future and family," Jenkins wrote in a Twitter post. "With this being said, I have decided to forgo the rest of the season and declare for the 2021 NFL Draft. "Although I cannot wait to see where my future lies, I've cherished every moment I've had at OSU." - Daily Oklahoman

Oklahoma State offensive tackle Teven Jenkins has decided to skip the remainder of the season to prepare for the NFL draft. Jenkins made the announcement in a tweet on Monday. Jenkins was injured against Oklahoma on Nov. 21 and did not play this past Saturday against Texas Tech. Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy said the 6-foot-6, 320-pound senior has been dealing with back pain. Jenkins was a preseason All-Big 12 selection who started six games at right tackle and one game at left tackle this season. He started all 12 games he played last season and helped running back Chuba Hubbard lead the nation in rushing. He started all 13 games as a sophomore and played in all 12 games as a freshman in 2017. - AP College Football

Jenkins said he spent two or three weeks thinking about whether he wanted to leave early for the NFL last year, before settling on returning for his senior season. "Teven is an interesting young man," Gundy said. "He doesn't even know how good he is. He doesn't know how much he's worth, if you want me to just call it like it is. "He's uncharacteristically strong. He has tremendous feet. He's got good leverage. He's highly intelligent, and his work ethic is getting better this year." All the focus on the OSU offense is drawn toward superstars Tylan Wallace and Chuba Hubbard, who are set to be early-round picks. But if Jenkins continues to perform at the level he's been at, he could rise into that range as well. "That's the kind of talent that he has," Gundy said. "If he just gets his mind focused on, "That's what I want to do," that's the level he could get to. "In this last game, he actually played a little bit nasty, like what you have to do to be a really good player and play in the NFL." - Daily Oklahoman
