Former Auburn and Florida A&M offensive lineman Calvin Ashley is joining the Super Bowl champions. Ashley went undrafted in this weekend's NFL Draft but latched on as a priority free agent signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he announced on Twitter on Saturday evening. Ashley is the second player with Auburn ties to join Tampa Bay on Saturday, as the franchise selected linebacker K.J. Britt in the fifth round earlier in the day.

The former five-star offensive tackle who originally signed with Auburn in 2017, Ashley was the highest-rated player in the Tigers' ninth-ranked recruiting class that year. He is one of the 10 highest-rated high school signees in program history, but he never panned out after arriving on the Plains. He redshirted as a freshman in 2017 and then appeared in eight games during the 2018 campaign, including his first career start at right tackle against Mississippi State that year. - Birmingham News

Calvin Ashley's college career is over. The former Auburn offensive lineman, who transferred to Florida A&M last year, announced Friday that he's going to enter the 2021 NFL draft. The news from Ashley came one week after the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference announced that its fall sports will be suspended indefinitely. The former five-star recruit was set to be a redshirt junior this season. Ashley, who only recorded one start during his two years at Auburn, was the starting right tackle for Florida A&M's 2019 team that finished the year 9-2. - Birmingham News

Calvin Ashley made headlines last year when he transferred from Auburn to Florida A&M. Now the offensive tackle is planning to forego his senior season at FAMU and declare for the 2021 NFL Draft. Ashley took to Twitter his decision to move on from Florida A&M after his lone season in Tallahassee. The 6’7, 335 pound offensive lineman quoted scripture and explained his decision. In a lot of ways, COVID-19 made the decision for him. The MEAC, along with the other three NCAA HBCU conferences, announced it will not compete in football this fall. Spring is a possibility, but the NFL Draft process will be in full swing by that time. - HBCU Gameday
