Headlined by two returning finalists, a previous winner, a dozen former semifinalists, and some of the best emerging talent in college football, it's a highly competitive year on the thirty-player Watch List for the 2020 Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award, as announced by the Palm Beach County Sports Commission. Last year's Groza winner, Rodrigo Blankenship, is now an Indianapolis Colt, but his fellow finalists Iowa senior Keith Duncan and Washington State junior Blake Mazza are back to vie for the award. Also returning is Syracuse junior and 2018 Groza winner Andre Szmyt, who could become just the second player to ever win the award multiple times, joining Sebastian Janikowski who won in 1998 and 1999. - Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award

Keith Duncan kicked a 48-yard field goal with one second left, giving No. 19 Iowa a 27-24 victory over Nebraska on Friday that leaves the Cornhuskers out of the postseason for a third consecutive season. The Hawkeyes (9-3, 6-3 Big Ten) overcame a sluggis h second half offensively to beat the Cornhuskers (5-7, 3-6) for a fifth straight year and second year in a row on a late field goal. Last year they won on a 41-yarder as time expired. Iowa, which had its 14-point lead wiped out in the third quarter, sta rted its final possession at its 26 with 32 seconds left. Stanley had a long pass to Nico Ragaini overturned to incomplete on video review, but then completed a pair of 22-yard passes to Ihmir Smith-Marsette and Sam LaPorta to bring on the reliable Dunca n.The Huskers called two timeouts before Duncan drilled the winner down the middle and with plenty of distance. Nebraska, down 24-10 at half, tied it with back-to-back touchdowns in the third quarter. Luke McCaffrey entered the game for a play in place of quarterback Adrian Martinez, rolled to his left and hit JD Spielman with a perfect 39-yard TD pass. Iowa rushed for 225 yards, its most since going for 351 against Middle Tennessee on Sept. 28, but 100 came on two scoring plays. Stanley complete d 11 of 24 passes for 99 yards, his lowest total since throwing for 86 against Maryland last year. Tyler Goodson ran 13 times for a season-high 116 yards. - AP College Football

2019 LOU GROZA AWARD FINALIST: Keith Duncan of Iowa,...Duncan, a junior from Weddington, North Carolina, leads the nation with 27 made field goals, four more than the next closest kicker and a new Big Ten single-season record. A full dozen of those kicks have come from at least 40 yards out, the most in the nation. Not only has he made a field goal in each game this season, he's made 4 field goals in a game on three different occasions, each vital to close Iowa wins. With one more of those 4-FG performa nces, he would tie the all-time FBS record for field goals in a single season. - Palm Beach County Sports Commission
