Fitzpatrick thought about entering the 2020 draft, but he ultimately decided to return to Louisville for his senior season. Though Atwell makes many of the headlines, Fitzpatrick is the most complete offensive weapon on the team. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound receiver has strong hands, is a good route runner and has underrated speed. His focus this season is on catching every pass that comes his way, he said. Wide receivers coach Gunter Brewer said he thought if Fitzpatrick had left for the 2020 draft, he would have been a mid-round pick. Next year's wide receivers class could be loaded, highlighted by LSU's Ja'Marr Chase, but Fitzpatrick should hear his name called at some point next April. He has 1,756 career yards and 18 touchdowns in three years. - Courier Journal

After Louisville's Music City Bowl win, receiver Dez Fitzpatrick had a decision to make. Did he want to chase his dream by entering the NFL draft, or return to school for his final year? On the surface, Fitzpatrick has all the tools to be an interesting NFL prospect. He's a 6-foot-2 receiver with good hands, runs a high-end 4.3 40-yard dash, is a strong route runner and has a good eye for the ball in the air. But there was more to the decision for the Farmington, Michigan native. Louisville had momentum going into offseason and high expectations for this year. Fitzpatrick's brother, freshman Christian Fitzpatrick, was set to join the team and Dez Fitzpatrick promised his mother he would get his degree, which he's set to receive in May.

Having conversations with his family, wide receivers coach Gunter Brewer and head coach Scott Satterfield, Fitzpatrick thought about every scenario. A week and a half after the bowl game, he decided to return to Louisville for his senior year. He has unfinished business, both on and off the field. "This is where I committed," Fitzpatrick said. "I wanted to win an ACC championship, I wanted to win a national championship. Leaving without that, I just felt like I came to do something." - Courier Journal
