2020 ALL-BIG 12 CONFERENCE FOOTBALL SECOND TEAM: DB Chris Brown, Texas,...Brown, a team captain in 2020, ranked fifth on the team with 47 tackles and tied for the lead among the Longhorns with seven pass breakups this year prior to declaring for the NFL Draft. The Houston native recorded a pass breakup or interception in six of nine games this season, including in each of Texas' last four contests. His breakout season at UT came in 2019, when Brown started 10 times, logged 46 tackles (37 solo), three ta ckles for loss, two pass breakups and one interception. Brown's 46 tackles were the fourth-most by a Longhorn last year, and his tally came despite missing three games due to injury. - Texas Football

Texas safety Chris Brown is ready to flex for NFL scouts. The senior captain announced late Thursday he's opting out of UT's bowl game and will start preparing for the NFL draft. He logged 107 tackles, broke up nine passes and had three interceptions dur ing his UT career, often times flexing his biceps after big plays along the way. The Longhorns' regular season came to an abrupt end Thursday when the finale against Kansas was canceled due to COVID-19 protocols."After thorough conversation with b oth my family and coaches, it was a conclusion we came to that we know is in the best interest of my future," Brown said in a statement. "My experience at Texas has definitely been a rollercoaster, but it's a ride that has meant everything to me because throughout this process I've grown. Texas DB Chris Brown declared for the 2021 NFL draft and will opt out of the Longhorns' bowl, the school announced Thursday. Brown ranks fifth on the team with 47 tackles and is tied for the lead among the Longhorns with seven pass breakups this year. He set a career high with 12 tackles against Kansas State. Brown becomes the third captain to opt out late in the season, joining OL Sam Cosmi and S Caden Sterns. - The Dallas Morning News
