The 2020 college football season is throwing everything a little out of whack. The reality, though, is that the season is going to have a significant impact on what happens in the years to come. The NCAA granted what is basically a free year of eligibility to all fall sports athletes. That means every football player will technically be allowed to add on a year. For all intents and purposes, 2020 doesn't count. "I think there's been some players that have already told us that they intend to come back," said coach Sonny Dykes. "Then there's some that I think just want to see how the year goes...I think there's just so much football that needs to be played and there's so many things that can play out." So that brings SMU to players like Richard Moore and Richard McBryde. Both are sixth-year linebackers. Theoretically, both will will be contributors, but neither appear surefire NFL locks. So, that presents an interesting scenario. - Dallas Morning News

Last season was a weird one for McBryde, who joined the team toward the end of training camp. Then, in the fourth game of the season, he was moved into a starter's role when Richard Moore went out with a season-ending injury. He ended up leading the team with 98 tackles, anchoring the defense in the middle of the field. The Auburn transfer got a sixth year of eligibility, and could theoretically come back for a seventh next season. - Dallas Morning News
