2019 ALL-OHIO VALLEY CONFERENCE SECOND TEAM (COACHES): WR - Josh Pearson, Jacksonville State,...Pearson, a senior from Decatur, Ala., also earned his second-straight All-OVC nod after a first-team mention a year ago. He wraps up a record-breaking two sea sons on the field for JSU with a school-record 30 touchdown catches that rank among the top 10 in OVC history. His 13 touchdown catches in 2019 are the second-most in a season in school history to his school-record 17 set in 2018. This season saw him lea d the FCS in touchdown catches for the second-straight season and haul in 59 catches for 943 yards, tying Joey Hamilton (1998) for the fifth-most in a season in JSU history. - Jacksonville State Football

Zion Webb rushed for 79 yards and a touchdown, and one of his two throws went for another score as Jacksonville State held off Murray State 14-12 on Saturday. JSU had a 32-game regular-season home winning streak snapped last week against Southeast Missou ri but got off to a 14-0 lead with just under 10 minutes left in the second quarter against Murray State. Zaden Webber kicked a 53-yard field goal to pull Murray State within 14-12 with 4:59 remaining in the fourth. After a JSU punt, the Racers went on a 13-play, 45-yard drive but Webber was off on a 52-yarder with five seconds to go for his third miss of the game. Michael Matthews added 89 yards rushing for Jacksonville State (6-3, 3-2 Ohio Valley Conference). Jamari Hester made two catches for 74 yard s and a TD. Preston Rice completed 24 of 46 passes for 231 yards with an interception for Murray State (4-5, 2-3). He also carried it 15 times for 49 yards and a TD. - AP College Football

SEPT 23/WEEK 4 OVC CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Josh Pearson, WR, 6-4, 205, Sr., Decatur, Ala., Jacksonville State,...Pearson caught seven passes for a career-high 149 yards and three touchdowns as Jacksonville State topped North Alabama 30-12. The w in was the 31st consecutive home regular season win for the Gamecocks. It marked his third career three-touchdown game and moved him into second place on the school's career touchdown list (22). Pearson caught a 12-yard touchdown in the first quarter, a 67-yarder in the second quarter and wrapped up the scoring with a 53-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter. For the sixth-straight year and eighth time in the past 10 years, Jacksonville State has been picked the preseason football favorite in the Ohio Valley Conference for 2019. The Gamecocks, who have won five-straight OVC Championships and 39 of its last 40 OVC games, received 14 of a possible 18 first-place votes in a poll of league head coaches and communications directors. The Gamecocks totaled 126 total points to out-distance Southeast Missouri, who ended the Gamecocks 36-game OVC win streak a season a go and earned an at-large berth into the FCS playoffs, who picked up the other four first-place votes and was tabbed second (115 points).Eastern Kentucky was picked third (98) and followed by Austin Peay (70), Murray State and Tennessee State (61) , UT Martin (60), Eastern Illinois (35) and Tennessee Tech (22). Despite suffering its first Conference loss since the 2013 season last season, Jacksonville State finished the year 7-1 in OVC play to win its record fifth-straight OVC Championship.
