ASU's pro day, originally slated for March 20, was postponed -- although it's doubtful that it will be made up -- a private workout that Grace had scheduled with an NFL team was canceled, and ASU's weight room inside the team's north end zone facility at Centennial Bank Stadium has closed, all a result of concerns over the coronavirus as the sports world has undergone a shutdown over the last few weeks. Losing the pro day was the biggest setback. It's the rare opportunity for NFL scouts, coaches and exe cutives to come to campus and see the school's pro hopefuls work out. For a player like Grace -- whose position is a specialist, who played for a non-Power 5 program and who wasn't afforded the chance to compete in postseason all-star games or the NFL Dr aft Combine -- any added NFL exposure you can attract is a benefit. And had the pro day taken place, it could have potentially led to a few more private workouts with teams. "We [were] kind of riding on how many teams that would have the opportunit y to come to pro day," Grace said. "For me personally, I think it would have been nice to have that little bit of extra exposure since we are a small school and don't get that opportunity and didn't get the opportunity to have a pro day. But I think agai n, it just comes down to the film. "If what you do live and against another team and you do well, I think they're gonna give you the best shot to prove yourself." In three seasons at ASU, Grace did plenty to prove he was one of the nation's best punters. - Northwest Arkansas Times

SEPT 30/WEEK 5 SUN BELT SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Cody Grace, Arkansas State (Sr., P, Perth, Western Australia),...Senior punter Cody Grace not only averaged 49.4 yards per punt with three of his five attempts pinning Troy inside its own 20-yard line, he completed a 15-yard pass to junior receiver Brandon Bowling in the third quarter to convert a momentum-changing fake punt in Arkansas State's 50-43 road victory over Troy. Following a Troy field goal that gave the Trojans their first lead of the game at 34-31, the Red Wolves ensuing drive stalled at their own 44-yard line before Grace extended the drive on a key fourth-down play. The Red Wolves found the end zone just two plays later with 7:50 remaining in the third quarter, reclaiming a lead it would not relinquish for the remainder of the outing. Grace punted five times with a long of 58 yards, and his 49.4 average per attempt nearly matched his career high of 50.0 recorded just the week prior. The Perth, Western Australia, native has now recorded at multiple punts inside the opponent's 20-yard line in 22 of 29 career games. - Sun Belt Football
