Alabama's first-round receiver pipeline from South Florida got a new member Thursday night. From Amari Cooper to Calvin Ridley, now Jerry Jeudy joined the club as the 15th pick in the NFL Draft. The 2018 Biletnikoff Award winner is now a Denver Bronco as the fourth Alabama player selected in the first round of the 2020 draft. Jeudy is the first Alabama player drafted by Denver since 2004 when Triandos Luke was a sixth-round pick. A sure-fire first rounder from the moment he announced his early departure, Jeudy was the second receiver picked Thursday night after Henry Ruggs went 12th. It was a top-heavy class at his position with Oklahoma's CeeDee Lamb and fellow Alabama product Ruggs among the top prospects vying for first-round money. Jeudy becomes the seventh Alabama receiver drafted in the Nick Saban era and the fifth first rounder. Julio Jones went No. 6 overall in 2011 followed by Cooper (No. 4 in 2015) and Ridley (No. 26 in 2018). - Birmingham News

Mock draft after mock draft projected the Broncos would take a wide receiver with the 15th-overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Turns out, it wasn't a smokescreen. The Broncos selected former Alabama wide receiver Jerry Jeudy with the 15th-overall pick in the first round of Thursday's NFL Draft. In the process, the Broncos added arguably the best wide receiver in a historically talented draft class. Jeudy, a 6-foot-1, 193-pound player, is widely believed to be the best route-runner in this year's draft, and he should provide an instant jolt to the Broncos' offense. He was the second receiver drafted, behind only his college teammate Henry Ruggs III. Jeudy caught 144 passes for 2,478 yards and 24 touchdowns over his last two seasons at Alabama. In 2018, after catching 68 passes for 1,315 yards and 14 touchdowns, Jeudy won the Biletnikoff Award as the nation's best receiver. He joins Pro Bowl wide receiver Courtland Sutton in Denver and should become a dangerous weapon for second-year quarterback Drew Lock. - DenverBroncos.com

When the Miami Hurricanes produced six first-round picks in the 2004 NFL draft, many pundits felt it was a record that would never be broken. The Alabama Crimson Tide will threaten to tie or possibly surpass that record on Thursday night. Seven Alabama players - quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, offensive tackle Jedrick Wills, wide receivers Jerry Jeudy and Henry Ruggs, safety Xavier McKinney, cornerback Trevon Diggs and pass rusher Terrell Lewis - have potential to be drafted in the first round, according to various mock drafts. Of those, the Deerfield Beach High alum Jeudy, Tagovailoa, Wills, Ruggs and McKinney appear most secure to be selected among the first 32 picks. Diggs is a fringe first-second round pick, and Lewis would have to make a draft-day leap to go in the first. The over/under for Alabama first-round picks is set by BetOnline at 5 1/2.

In 2004, Miami had safety Sean Taylor (No. 5 pick, Washington Redskins), tight end Kellen Winslow II (No. 6, Cleveland Browns), linebackers Jonathan Vilma (No. 12, New York Jets) and D.J. Williams (No. 17, Denver Broncos), offensive tackle Vernon Carey (No. 19, Miami Dolphins) and nose tackle Vince Wilfork (No. 21, New England Patriots) were the record six first-round draftees. - Sun Sentinel

Former Alabama star receiver Jerry Jeudy is apologizing to anyone he offended with his fashion statement at the NFL combine. Jeudy sported a gold Star of David pendant around his neck during his media session Tuesday at the annual gathering of top NFL prospects. Asked about its significance he explained it was in reference to the first syllable of his surname. "My last name's Jeudy. People sometimes call me 'Jew,' ... So, I just got a Jewish star," he explained. "I'm not Jewish, though." The Star of David, known in Hebrew as the Shield of David, is shaped like a hexagram and is a widely recognized symbol of modern Jewish identity and Judaism. Jeudy, the headliner of a deep wide receiver class, later tweeted an apology. "Don't mean no disrespect to the Jewish people! I'm sorry to the people who take my chain offensive!!" Jeudy wrote. - AP College Football

Alabama wide receiver Jerry Jeudy and offensive tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. are skipping their senior seasons to enter the NFL draft. They announced their decisions Thursday on Twitter and are projected as likely first-round picks. Jeudy, the 2018 Biletnikoff Award winner, finished his Alabama career with a huge game in the Citrus Bowl. He had 77 catches for 1,163 yards and 10 touchdowns last season. Jeudy logged a six-catch, 204-yard effort against Michigan on New Year's Day, including an 85-yard touchdown.

He was part of a loaded receiving corps that includes DeVonta Smith, Henry Ruggs III and Jaylen Waddle. One of the program's most prolific receivers, Jeudy led the Southeastern Conference with 14 touchdown catches in 2018 and was an Associated Press All-American. Wills was a second-team AP All-American who started the past two seasons at right tackle. Two other underclassmen, middle linebacker Dylan Moses and left tackle Alex Leatherwood, have both said they plan to return for their senior seasons. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, whose season ended with a serious hip injury, is expected to announce his decision on Monday. - AP College Football

A second Alabama player has declared for the NFL draft. This time, it's star wide receiver Jerry Jeudy, who made it official Saturday afternoon that he's going to leave the Crimson Tide and enter the NFL draft. The announcement from Jeudy came a few hours after right tackle Jedrick Wills became the first of Alabama's underclassmen to declare for the draft. Jeudy, who had six catches for a career-high 204 yards and a touchdown during the Tide's Citrus Bowl win over Michigan, leaves Alabama second in school history in career receiving touchdowns and fourth in career receiving yards. The former five-star recruit finished this season with 77 catches for 1,163 yards and 10 touchdowns. - AL.com

Jerry Jeudy could have sat out Alabama's bowl game and still almost certainly would have been a first-round draft pick. He played instead - and if this was his finale, his stock likely soared. Mac Jones threw three touchdown passes, Jeudy became the first Alabama player to top 200 receiving yards in a bowl game and the ninth-ranked Crimson Tide topped No. 17 Michigan 35-16 on Wednesday in the Citrus Bowl. "I've played football all my life," said Jeudy, the junior who was the game's MVP pick. "I couldn't just sit out there and watch my team play...I love playing football, so I just came out here and competed with my brothers."

Jones connected with Jeudy for an 85-yard score on Alabama's first snap, DeVonta Smith and Miller Forristall added touchdown grabs in the second half for the Crimson Tide (11-2), which trailed 16-14 at the break. Najee Harris ran for 136 yards and two touchdowns for Alabama. Jeudy finished with six catches for 204 yards. His previous career-high for yards was 147 set last season against Missouri, and the Alabama bowl record had stood for more than a half-century - Ray Perkins had 178 yards against Nebraska in the 1967 Sugar Bowl. Jones - who took over as Alabama's starter when Tua Tagovailoa was lost for the season with an injury in November - completed 16 of 25 passes for 327 yards. - AP College Football

Alabama dropped to No. 9 in The Associated Press college football poll, snapping the Crimson Tide's record streak of 68 appearances in the top five. The top four teams in the AP Top 25 presented by Regions Bank were unchanged, with LSU at No. 1, followed by Ohio State, Clemson and Georgia. The Buckeyes gained on LSU after their blowout victory at Michigan, receiving 19 first-place votes. The Tigers had 40, down 10 from last week. Clemson received three first-place votes. Utah moved up to No. 5, followed by Oklahoma, Florida and Baylor.

The Crimson Tide lost to Auburn in a wild Iron Bowl on Saturday to give it two regular-season losses for the first time since 2010. The four-spot drop by Alabama broke a string of top-five appearances that began Nov. 8, 2015. The week before the Tide's run started it had been seventh, and it had been as low as 12th earlier that season. Alabama passed the old record for consecutive top-five appearances of 55 by Miami (Oct. 8, 2000-Oct. 26, 2003) last season. Wisconsin moved up three spots to No. 10 after routing Minnesota. The Gophers dropped six spots to No. 15. - AP College Football
