2019 BIG SOUTH OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR (COACHES): Kenji Bahar, QB, R-Sr., Monmouth,...Bahar is Monmouth's first Big South Offensive Player of the Year honoree since the Hawks joined the conference in 2014. He was the league's top passer during the r egular-season with 3,262 yards (fourth-most in Big South history) and 28 touchdowns, and paced the conference in total offense with 3,454 yards and 287.8 per game. Bahar completed 254-of-384 passing attempts for a 66.1 completion percentage, had a league -high five 300-yard passing games and six 300 total offense games, and threw multiple touchdowns in a game eight times.A finalist for the Walter Payton Award, Bahar was a three-time Big South Offensive Player of the Week honoree in 2019 and leads the conference in 11 offensive categories. He threw a touchdown pass in every game this year, and his 28 scoring strikes are the second-most in a season in league history. Bahar threw for five touchdowns against North Alabama on Nov. 9 and had four in th e regular-season finale against Hampton. In six Big South games in 2019, Bahar was 104-of-153 passing (68.0 percent) for 1,655 yards and 15 touchdowns with just two interceptions. NOV 11 BIG SOUTH CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Monmouth quarterback Kenji Bahar (Baltimore, Md.) tied a career-high with five touchdown passes while throwing for 319 yards in the Hawks' 49-38 win over North Alabama. He was 27-of-36 passing (=75.0 perc ent) and posted a 189.71 pass efficiency rating. Bahar ran for 24 yards and finished the afternoon with 343 yards of offense. Kenji Bahar threw five touchdown passes and became Monmouth's all-time TD passing leader in a 49-38 win over North Alabama on Saturday. Bahar threw for 319 yards and completed 27-of-36 passing attempts. Quentin Parham and Lonnie Moore IV each caught a pa ir of touchdowns and Terrance Greene Jr. caught one to go along with 125 receiving yards with nine receptions. Bahar entered the game with 57 scoring passes and was one behind previous record holder Brian Boland. Bahar owns six Monmouth passing records, and with his next game played will tie Boland in that department with 44.The Hawks (8-2, 4-0 Big South) led 14-7 at halftime and took control in the third. Devell Jones scored on 3-yard TD run to open the second half. Following a North Alabama (3- 6 Independent) field goal, Bahar connected with Parham on a 61-yard scoring pass and Moore on a 21-yarder. He totaled 424 yards of offense and two touchdowns again st a defense that entered the game allowing just 259.0 yards and 14.3 points. Bahar was 20-of-27 passing for 332 yards with a 92-yard touchdown strike, and also ran for 92 yards - including a 65-yard scoring run. Kenji Bahar threw for 332 yards and a touchdown, scored on a 65-yard run and Monmouth shocked Kennesaw State 45-21 on Saturday in a showdown of teams with perfect Big South Conference records. The Hawks scored 42 unanswered points on six possessions to d efeat the the No. 5 FCS team, their first win in five games in the series. Monmouth (7-2, 4-0), was trailing 7-3 before Devell Jones scored on a pair of short touchdown runs. Peter Guerriero followed with a 10-yard scoring run before Tymere Berry's 41-ya rd interception return with a minute left in the first half made it 31-7.Bahar and Zach Tredway then hooked up on a 92-yard catch-and-run before Bahar's big run. Bahar finished with 92 yards rushing on just six carries and completed 20 of 27 passe s. Guerriero, who entered the game as the first FCS back over 1,000 yards, finished with 77 on 21 carries. Tredway had 162 yards on seven receptions. While the Hawks piled up 517 yards, the Owls (7-2, 2-1) had 407, but 110 came on two big touchdown plays after they trailed 45-7. Kenji Bahar threw two touchdown passes and ran for another score as Monmouth rolled past Gardner-Webb 49-28 on Saturday. Bahar was 20-of-26 passing for 327 yards for the Hawks (5-2, 2-0 Big South Conference). Pete Guerriero ran for 186 yards and two touc hdowns and Devell Jones also rushed for a pair of scores. Monmouth outgained the Runnin' Bulldogs 599-360 yards. Bahar capped the Hawks' 10-play, 81-yard opening drive with a 42-yard touchdown throw to Terrance Greene. Greene pulled down a 22-yard scorin g pass from Bahar late in the second quarter and Jones ran for a touchdown just before the break and the Hawks were up 21-7 at halftime. Guerriero broke for touchdown runs of 58 and 65 yards in the third, giving Monmouth a 42-21 advantage with 4:28 left in the quarter. Kenji Bahar threw three touchdown passes and Monmouth blanked winless Presbyterian College, 45-0 in the Hawks' Big South Conference opener on Saturday afternoon. Monmouth has won four of six conference games with the Blue Hose, who will join the non-scho larship Pioneer Football League beginning next fall. Bahar connected with Lonnie Moore IV for a 1-yard touchdown on the final play of a 16-14 win over Wagner College last week, and the pair combined to cap the opening drive against Presbyterian, this tim e from 14-yards out.Pete Guerriero ran 48-yards for a score and after Presbyterian fumbled at its own 2-yard line, Devell Jones punched in to make it 21-0 in the first quarter. Jones added a 5-yard touchdown in the second quarter and Bahar hit Sha wn Clark from 36-yards out to make it 38-0 at intermission. Bahar hit Terrance Greene Jr. for a 20-yard touchdown early in the third quarter to complete the scoring. Bahar completed 16 of 23 passes for 233 yards while Guerriero carried 11 times for 81. Kenji Bahar directed a 12-play 71-yard last-chance drive, and Lonnie Moore IV scored the winning touchdown after he bounced off a defender before rolling into the end zone, lifting Monmouth to a 16-14 come-from behind win at Wagner Saturday night. Facing fourth-and-goal at the 1, Bahar, rolling to his right, threw a short slant to Moore, who caught it at the 5, caromed off a would-be tackler and rolled into the end zone with the game-winner with 23 seconds remaining.The Hawks (3-2) had trailed ev er since Wagner (1-5) scored early in the fourth to take a 14-10 lead. Bahar completed six of seven passes on the final drive, ran for a first down and survived a sack and a tackle for loss. He finished 25-for-38 for 216 yards.
