2019 ALL-MOUNTAIN WEST SECOND TEAM (COACHES): DL - David Moa, Sr., Boise State,...Helping anchor the Bronco defensive line this season, Moa, Hatada, and Lui earned well-deserved recognition. Commanding plenty of attention and even double teams on the int erior, Moa, returning from a 2018 campaign in which injuries limited him to just one game, fought his way to 30 tackles (15 solo) with a sack, 5.5 tackles-for-loss, as well as a fumble recovery. His selection to the Second Team was also his third-career All-Mountain West nod, following selections to the First Team in 2016 and Second Team in 2017. - Boise State Football

Moa is the heart of the Broncos' defensive line. His absence wasn't just missed on the stat sheet - it was felt every day. "When he's out there on the field, practices go better," Harsin said. "If things at practice are getting a little squirrelly, if yo u've got a guy like that on the field, he usually handles it. ...When he's full speed - I hope that's the case this camp - he's a dangerous player because he's just relentless." Added Pierce: "Everybody looks at him as an undisputed leader." The decision to return for another year of college was a "no-brainer," Moa said, once he learned the severity of his injury. He was granted the extra year because he played only one game last season. Moa had surgery in January to repair a partially torn Achilles tendon he sustained during player conditioning last July while running up the steep, sandy hill at Camel's Back Park. After missing the first two games of the 2018 season, Moa was cleared to play against Oklahoma State, but ended up reinjuring his Achilles just 12 plays into the game."Going into Oklahoma State, it felt pretty good, the best it's been since I got injured," Moa said. "Part of me just wanted to be out there with our guys , too, especially a big game like that. So I might have rushed it a little bit, but we're here now, got everything settled and the first day of practice today felt good." - Idaho Statesman
