2019 LOU GROZA AWARD WINNER: Rodrigo Blankenship, Georgia,...Georgia graduate place-kicker Rodrigo Blankenship has been named the winner of the 2019 Lou Groza Award, given to nation's top place-kicker, at the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards held at the Chick-fil-A College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta on Thursday night. Blankenship, a native of Marietta, Ga., is the SEC's second leading scorer this year, averaging 9.2 points per game, and connecting on 25-of-31 field goal attempts and all 198 of his career PATs, including all 44 this year.He has drilled three 50-yard field goals during his team's 11-2 mark. Blankenship is the FBS active leader by 16 with a total of 78 made field goals. He is UGA's all-time leading scorer with 432 poin ts, which ranks second all-time in league history. The former walk-on's school record 198 consecutive PATs ranks second in SEC history. Thanks in large part to his contribution, Georgia leads the nation with 289 PATs in a row dating back to 2014. - Geor gia Football

2019 SEC FOOTBALL SCHOLAR-ATHLETE OF THE YEAR: Georgia placekicker Rodrigo Blankenship has been named the SEC Football Scholar-Athlete of the Year by a vote of the league's head coaches. Blankenship graduated Cum Laude from Georgia in December 2018 with a degree in Digital and Broadcast Journalism. He is currently enrolled in a Journalism Master's program and has a 3.65 grade point average. Earlier this fall, Blankenship was named one of the 12 recipients of the National Football Foundation Scholar-Athl ete Award for his combined academic success, football performance and exemplary leadership. He has been a member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll and has also served on the SEC Football Leadership Council. A finalist for the Lou Groza Award, Blankenship is second in SEC history with 428 career points. He leads the SEC with 24 field goals made this season and was named SEC Special Teams Player of the Week six times. - SEC Football

2019 LOU GROZA AWARD FINALIST: Rodrigo Blankenship of Georgia,...Blankenship, a senior from Marietta, Georgia, became the Bulldogs' all-time career scoring leader thanks to a 23-for-26 campaign that ties for second in FBS for made field goals. Three of t hose makes came from 50 yards out, tying him for the national lead for most field goals from long distance. His 88.5% conversion rate is the best among kickers with at least 20 attempts and at least one kick from 50 yards. 2019 BURLSWORTH TROPHY FINALIST: Rodrigo Blankenship, University of Georgia, Kicker, SR - Blankenship ranks No. 14 nationally and second in the Southeastern Conference in scoring with 92 points and has hit 100 percent of his extra-point kicks this year f or the fourth-ranked Bulldogs (9-1). He has made 19 of 23 field goals attempts this season with a long of 50 yards. Blankenship, who started his career as a preferred walk-on, is the NCAA active career leader in field goals with 72. Blankenship, 6-foot-1 and 193 pounds, has hit six field goals of at least 50 yards in his career and as a sophomore in 2017. That season Blankenship secured a scholarship spot on the team and hit field goals of at least 50 yards in the Rose Bowl and National Championship Gam e.
