LSU had a record-tying 14 players selected in the 2020 NFL draft, but there was at least one notable figure missing from that group. Tight end Thaddeus Moss, the son of Hall of Fame wide receiver Randy Moss, was not taken and instead signed with the Wash ington Redskins as an undrafted free agent. "Ultimately all I could ask for is the opportunity, but it was definitely a slap in the face," Moss said in a video news conference with reporters Wednesday. "I put a lot of work in, years of football. We (LSU) went undefeated and won a national championship. I played my best ball in our biggest games, so I definitely felt like it was a slap in the face not getting drafted, having kickers and punters and special teams guys get picked over me. I definitely felt some type of way over it. "But it's no difference. I've always had to prove myself my whole life. Having the last name that I've had, I've had to prove everybody else wrong, or prove myself right." In his lone year of action at LSU after transferring fr om North Carolina State and redshirting in 2018, Moss recorded 47 catches for 570 yards and four touchdowns. He notched nine catches for 135 yards and three touchdowns in the Tigers' two College Football Playoff victories. - The News-Star

Moss hasn't missed a day since the Tigers first put on the pads last Friday. Still, he acknowledges, it isn't a game. And a football game is something the tight end, son of Pro Football Hall of Fame receiver Randy Moss, hasn't taken part in for a very lo ng time. It has been nearly three years in fact. Three years since the Charlotte, North Carolina, native played his last game as a freshman at North Carolina State. He then decided to transfer to LSU in 2017 but by rule had to sit out. There was one seas on gone. Then injury, the first serious physical setback of his career, claimed another.It was the first week of June 2018 and Moss, like most all college players, was taking part in summer drills when he felt a pop in his left foot. "I was doing a one-on-one rep with (linebacker) Ray Thornton," Moss said. "A route I've run a thousand times before. I didn't step on his foot or anything. I thought I rolled my ankle because I couldn't walk well on it." When he finally went in for treatment he almos t jumped off the examining table when LSU trainers touched his foot. It felt like fire. He had fractured the fifth metatarsal of his left foot, one of the bones in the middle of the foot that attach to the toes and give a foot its arch. Surgery was neede d, but unfortunately for Moss it didn't do the job. "The type of fracture I had, the doctors said they hadn't seen that before," Moss said. "My foot was essentially still fractured last year even though I had the surgery." - Baton Rouge Advocate
