The Baltimore Ravens needed major help at linebacker going into NFL Draft 2020. They solved that need with their first-round pick, LSU's Patrick Queen. The 6-0, 229-pound linebacker with 4.5 speed was the Defensive MVP of the Tigers' national championshi p victory over Clemson, recording eight tackles with 2.5 for loss and half a sack. So why did the Ravens also use their fifth pick of the top 100 to take Ohio State linebacker Malik Harrison with the 98th overall pick of the third round? Eric DeCosta, th e Ravens' executive vice president and general manager, said that decision was a reflection of Harrison being the best player available at that point - maybe by a significant margin."We do that if we really like the second guy," DeCosta said in a video clip posted to the Ravens' Twitter feed. "I think it speaks to how much we like Malik." He likened it to similar occurrences in Ravens history, such as when they paired up offensive lineman in 2007 (Ben Grubbs first round, Marshal Yanda third), tig ht ends in 2010 (Ed Dickson third, Dennis Pitta fourth) and tight ends again in 2018 (Hayden Hurst first, Mark Andrews third) "If we take that second guy, fans should look at that and say, 'wow, they must really like this guy, because they've already tak en a guy at his position,'" DeCosta said. "He's got to be the highest-rated guy on the board." - Cleveland Plain Dealer
