  2019 ALL-BIG SKY CONFERENCE FIRST TEAM (COACHES): DT Dariyn Choates, Senior, Sacramento State,...Choates was named to the first team at defensive tackle after earning honorable mention in 2017. He had a career high 47 total tackles which ranked second among defensive lineman on the team and were the most among defensive tackles. The senior led the Big Sky with 17.0 tackles-for-loss (1.5 per game) which ranks fourth in school single-season history. He was also second on the team and fourth in the Big Sky with 7.0 sacks. The Seaside, Calif., native had a TFL in 10 of the 11 games in which he played. Prior to this season, Choates had 12.5 TFLs and 5.5 sacks in his first three seasons. - Sacramento State Football

  WEEK 3 BIG SKY FOOTBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Sacramento State defensive lineman Dariyn Choates led a Sacramento State defense that kept visiting Northern Colorado out of the endzone, as the Hornets defeated the Bears 50-0. The senior registered six total tackles, including a career-high 3.5 for a loss of nine yards. Choates added two forced fumbles and a pass breakup, as Sacramento State shutout an opponent for the first time since 2011.

He added to the team's point total when he stopped Milo Hall in the end zone on a rush attempt for Sacramento State's first safety in two years. The Hornets finished the game with 10.0 tackles-for-loss.
