The two Clemson running backs who are widely regarded as the best in school history will now be in the same running backs room. C.J. Spiller is joining the Tigers coaching staff as an unpaid grad intern, Clemson coach Dabo Swinney announced Tuesday eveni ng. Spiller will assist offensive coordinator Tony Elliott in working with two-time ACC Player of the Year Travis Etienne and Clemson's other backs. His first day on staff was Wednesday. "We just added another pretty good unpaid grad intern named C.J. Sp iller. I'm very excited about having him join us," Swinney said. "He told me on Sunday he was wanting to start his coaching career. He's gonna get his Masters in athletic leadership. He actually joined us today, so I'm really excited about having that gu y."Spiller was named an All-American in football and track during his time with the Tigers. His No. 28 number is retired. The Florida native rushed for 3,547 yards during his four seasons, while averaging nearly 6 yards per carry for his career. H e gained an ACC-record 7,588 all-purpose yards and finished his career with 51 total touchdowns. - The State

Clemson legends C.J. Spiller and Donnell Woolford join former South Carolina coach Jim Carlen on the 2021 ballot for the College Football Hall of Fame. Spiller was a star running back at Clemson from 2006 to 2009, and Woolford was a defensive back for th e Tigers from 1985 to 1988. Spiller is one of the most productive running backs in Clemson history and was named a first team All-American kick returner his senior year in 2009. That is the same season he was named ACC Player of the Year after rushing fo r 1,212 yards and 12 touchdowns. Spiller was taken ninth overall in the 2010 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills and made one Pro Bowl in his eight-year career. - The Post and Courier
