  2022 ALL-MISSOURI VALLEY FOOTBALL SECOND TEAM: DB Woo Governor, Northern Iowa, Jr.,...Picking up his first All-MVFC honor, Governor notched 61 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss in a breakout season for the Panthers. Tying for the team lead with four interceptions, Governor returned two interceptions for touchdowns against Western Illinois, tying a UNI single-game record.   Middle Tennessee will play San Diego State in the Hawaii Bowl on Dec. 24 on the campus of the University of Hawaii after the bowl game was canceled in 2020 and 2021 because of the coronavirus pandemic. The Blue Raiders (7-5) announced Monday they have accepted an invitation to play in the game after winning four of their last five to become bowl eligible. Middle Tennessee will be playing in its sixth bowl in eight seasons and 10th overall under coach Rick Stockstill. San Diego State (7-5) of the Mountain West Conference won five of its final seven to become bowl eligible. This is the second trip to this bowl for both programs. Middle Tennessee lost 52-35 to Hawaii in 2016, while San Diego State beat Cincinnati 42-7 in 2015. Conference USA teams are 8-4 in the Hawaii Bowl overall. - AP College Football

  2022 ALL-MISSOURI VALLEY FOOTBALL FIRST TEAM: QB Theo Day, Northern Iowa, R-Jr.,...Day picks up his first all-conference honor after leading the MVFC in passing yards (3,121), yards per pass attempt (9.6), pass efficiency (169), passing touchdowns (26), passing yards per game (283.7) and total offense (289.7). He also ranks 7th in the nation in total passing yards, as well as 8th passing touchdowns. Day, who's 3,121 passing yards were the fifth most in a single season in UNI history, was a two-time CFPA FCS National Performer of the Week (Oct. 30 and Nov. 20) and MVFC Co-Offensive Player of the Week (Nov. 21). He recorded a career-high 6 total touchdowns in the Panthers regular season finale at South Dakota, which included his second game this season with 5 passing touchdowns. - Northern Iowa Football

  2022 MISSOURI VALLEY FOOTBALL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: RB Jaleel McLaughlin, Youngstown State, 5-9, 183, Sr., Marshville, N.C. (Forest Hills High/Notre Dame College),...In 11 games, McLaughlin rushed for 1,588 yards on 227 carries and scored 13 touchdowns. During league play, he had 1,220 yards on 184 attempts and nine scores, while averaging an impressive 152.5 yards in Conference games. McLaughlin scored TDs in eight of 11 games and had two touchdowns against Indiana State, South Dakota, and Southern Illinois in Conference play. During the year, he averaged 6.6 yards per attempt and also caught 19 passes for 300 yards and two touchdowns. He had four 200-yard plus efforts and eight 100-yard games and became the NCAA's all-time leading rusher during the season. - Missouri Valley Football

  2022 MISSOURI VALLEY FOOTBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: LB Zeke Vandenburgh, Illinois State, 6-3, 235, Sr., Freeport, Illinois (Freeport High),...Zeke started all 10 games played in at outside linebacker and ranked No. 1 in the FCS in sacks per game and TFLs per game. He led the MVFC in sacks (14.0), TFLs (21.0) and was third in the league in tackles (100). The four-time MVFC Defensive Player of the Week recorded three sacks in three different games, including in the final two games of the season. He also finished the final two games of the year with 4.0 TFLs and had three-plus TFLs in five contests. He posted six double-digit tackle efforts, including a career-high 17 in the finale against Western Illinois, when he also recorded a career-best 3.5 sacks. - Missouri Valley Football
