  Andy Peters threw three touchdown passes, and the St. Thomas-Minnesota defense stifled Stetson in a 52-14 victory for the Tommies on Saturday. Peters completed 22 of 28 passes for 292 yards and backup Amari Powell added a 64-yard touchdown for a team passing total of 356 yards. Peters added 80 yards rushing. The Tommies (5-3, 3-2 Pioneer Football League) doubled the Hatters in first downs (22-11) and had more than four times the total yardage (558-120).

Peters had a 63-yard touchdown pass to Stefano Giovannelli and Powell's 64-yard score went to Tyson Schilling, making it 52-3 midway through the fourth quarter. Schilling caught four passes for 101 yards. Gavin Rupp's 43-yard pass to Will Secker with 5 1/2 minutes to go gave the Hatters (3-6, 2-3) their only touchdown on homecoming.   WEEK 8 PIONEER FOOTBALL LEAGUE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Amari Powell, St. Thomas (Senior, Quarterback, Valencia, California),...Powell was responsible for four touchdowns and 307 total offensive yards in St. Thomas' 55-17 PFL victory against Valparaiso. In 70 minutes of action, he completed 13-of-20 passes for 265 yards and three touchdowns while scoring a touchdown on the ground as part of a three-carry, 42-yard effort that included no stops for a loss or sacks. Powell had a four-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter. He then ran for a 20-yard score and passed for a 56-yard touchdown in the second quarter as the Tommies built a 31-10 lead. Powell's final play of the day came after a Valparaiso turnover, and he converted the miscue into a touchdown with a 22-yard pass.   Amari Powell threw three touchdown passes and ran for another to lead St. Thomas-Minnesota to a 55-17 rout over Valparaiso on Saturday. Powell was 13-of-20 passing for 265 yards and connected with three receivers for scores. He also ran three times for 42 yards that included a 20-yard touchdown in the second quarter as St. Thomas (4-3, 2-2 Pioneer League) built a 34-10 halftime lead.

Quentin Cobb-Butler had four receptions for 81 yards with a score to lead 10 Tommies with at least one catch. The Tommies finished with 143 yards rushing on 30 carries with four touchdown runs. Ryan Jackson led with 48 yards on seven carries that included a 16-yard touchdown run. Michael Mansaray ran for 121 yards on 20 carries for Valparaiso (1-6, 0-3).   Andy Peters, Amari Powell and Ryan Jackson each threw for a touchdown, Joseph Koch rushed for three scores, and St. Thomas-Minnesota routed Davidson 57-13 on Saturday. Powell's touchdown throw went to Quentin Cobb-Butler for an 85-yard score on the first play of the second half for a 36-0 lead. Koch's third touchdown run gave the Tommies a 50-0 lead with 7:24 remaining in the third quarter.

It was the first time St. Thomas scored 50-plus points in a game since 2021, its first season of Division I play. Peters, Powell and Jackson, who was making his collegiate debut, combined to go 18 of 23 - with at least three completions each - for 367 yards and three touchdowns and no interceptions. Koch had 10 carries for 53 yards and Patrick Bowen added 62 yards rushing and two scores. Quentin Cobb-Butler led the Tommies (3-3, 1-2 Pioneer) with 137 yards receiving and a touchdown.   Andy Peters threw for 221 yards and three touchdown and St. Thomas-Minnesota used the fourth quarter to rally for a 20-7 win against Division II-member Northern Michigan on Saturday. Peters got the Tommies (2-1) with a 10-play, 65-yard drive that resulted in his 13-yard scoring pass to Eli Paulson with 6:43 left in the first quarter. The two-point conversion failed and St. Thomas-Minnesota wouldn't score again until the final frame. The Wildcats took a 7-6 lead with 4:45 left in the third when Jahi Wood ran it from the 5-yard line ending an eight-play, 70-yard drive that lasted three-and-a-half minutes.

Peters put the Tommies in front for good with a 24-yard touchdown pass to Marc Coy with 6:10 left in the game. Peters ran it in for the two-point conversion and a 14-7 lead. After holding Northern Michigan to three yards on three plays and forcing a punt, on the first play of St. Thomas' drive, Peters connected with Patrick Wagner for a 72-yard completion to put the ball at the Wildcats' 8-yard line. After Joseph Koch's 1-yard run, Peters went back to Wagner for a 7-yard scoring pass with 3:04 left. Duke Shovald threw for 133 yards for Northern Michigan. - AP College Football

  St. Thomas combined for 447 yards of total offense and five touchdowns as the Tommies beat Lindenwood 35-13 on Thursday night in a season opener for both teams. The Lions missed three field goals and lost a fumble, resulting in four scrapped drives down the stretch. Despite the loss, Nate Glantz completed 18 of 29 passes for 318 yards and a touchdown.

Andy Peters tied the game for the Tommies on a 19-yard touchdown pass to Patrick Wagner in the second quarter. Stefano Giovannelli found the end zone on a fake field goal to give St. Thomas a 14-7 lead with 12 to go in the third quarter. St. Thomas ran for 275 yards on the night, with Joseph Koch rushing for 154 yards and a score on 18 carries. The Tommies reversed a 64-0 loss to the Lions last season and earned their first win over a non-PFL FCS team since joining Division I during the 2021 season.   Quarterback Cade Sexauer ran for two touchdowns, Yusef Leak returned a blocked field goal for a touchdown, and St. Thomas of Minnesota won the Pioneer Football League championship with a 27-13 victory over Butler on Saturday. The Tommies won the league championship in their second year as a Division I member. They are not yet eligible for the FCS playoffs. Sexauer opened the scoring with a 2-yard run and Leak later raced 66 yards with the blocked kick to give St. Thomas a 14-0 first-quarter lead. The Tommies led 14-0 at halftime and added two Stephan Shagen field goals and a 1-yard Sexauer TD run in the second half. Shawn Shipman had 99 yards rushing for the Tommies (10-1, 8-0), who have won 10 in a row. Bret Bushka completed 13 of 29 passes for 123 yards with two touchdowns for the Bulldogs (7-4, 5-3).   Shawn Shipman carried it 31 times for 168 yards and a touchdown and St. Thomas (Minn.) rushed for 274 yards in a 23-0 victory over Stetson on Saturday to clinch a share of the Pioneer League championship. St. Thomas (9-1, 7-0) won its ninth straight since a 44-13 opening loss at Southern Utah, and 37 straight regular-season games at home. Cade Sexauer threw it across the field to a wide-open Matthew Rink for a 10-yard touchdown and a 23-0 lead.

Sexauer added 13 carries for 60 yards and a score for St. Thomas (9-1, 7-0), which plays Butler next Saturday. Sexauer also was 8-of-17 passing for 123 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. The St. Thomas defense intercepted Brady Meitz two times and held Stetson to 11 first downs and 113 total yards. Following a Valparaiso interception and return inside the Tommies' 20-yard line, the defense forced a fumble and Wurtz picked up the loose ball and scampered 79 yards for the game-opening touchdown.   Grif Wurtz returned a fumble 79 yards for a touchdown and Owen Kanzler went 89 yards for a kickoff-return score and St. Thomas pulled away from Valparaiso 34-7 on Saturday for its eighth-straight win. The Tommies (8-1, 6-0 Pioneer Football League) had three touchdown plays of at least 50 yards. Wurtz opened the scoring with his big play and Cade Sexauer produced the next two scores, a 9-yard run that made it 14-0 at halftime and a 50-yard scoring pass to Andrew McElroy early in the third quarter. Aaron Dawson's 1-yard plunge put the Beacons (4-5, 3-3) on the scoreboard midway through the third quarter to get within 20-7, but it was quickly answered when Kanzler, a true freshman touching the ball for just the sixth time in his career, took the kickoff up the middle to midfield before finding the end zone down the right sideline. - AP College Football

  Cade Sexauer threw for three touchdowns and ran for a fourth and Andrew McElroy scored three times to lead St. Thomas to a 49-42 win over San Diego on Saturday, the seventh-straight win for the Tommies. Judd Erickson, who threw for 361 yards and three touchdowns, threw four straight incompletions after driving the Toreros from their 27 to St. Thomas 37, the last coming with 15 seconds to play. Sexauer ran 14-yards for a touchdown on the first play of the fourth quarter to break a 35-35 tie. On the next possession for the Tommies (7-1, 5-0 Pioneer Football League), Sexauer connected with Wesley Juszczak for a 41-yard score.

San Diego (3-4, 2-2) responded with a 79-yard drive, capped by Erickson's 17-yard touchdown to Michael Carner with 3:50 to play before getting the ball back with 55 seconds left. The teams alternated touchdowns through three quarters, the biggest a 95-yard kickoff return by McElroy early in the second half. Sexauer was 13 of 19 for 286 yards and Bryce Boyd threw a touchdown pass of 36 yards on his only attempt. Shawn Shipman ran for 105 yards and score for St. Thomas while McElroy caught seven passes for 200 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Re-Al Mitchell had nine catches for 147 yards and a TD for San Diego. - AP College Football
