  2025 SUN BELT OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR (COACHES): Colton Joseph, Old Dominion (RS So., QB - Newport Beach, Calif.),...Joseph led Old Dominion to its second winning season in program history, guiding an offense that ranks 16th in the country averaging 460.8 yards per game. The Newport Beach, Calif., native threw for 2,624 yards and 21 touchdowns and rushed for 1,007 yards and 13 touchdowns. The redshirt sophomore quarterback ranks second in the nation with 15.17 yards per completion, seventh with 17.0 points responsible for per game, eighth with 302.6 yards of total offense per game, 12th with 6.37 yards per carry, 13th with 9.05 yards per pass attempt, 22nd with 13 rushing touchdowns and 25th with a 152.7 passing efficiency. - Sun Belt Football

  Devin Roche ran for 137 yards and two touchdowns, Colton Joseph added 108 yards and a score of his own, and Old Dominion defeated Georgia State 27-10 on Saturday in a regular-season finale. Joseph also completed nine of his 22 passes for 106 yards for the Monarchs (9-3, 6-2 Sun Belt), who finished second behind James Madison in the Sun Belt East. The game was the 75th edition of the Oyster Bowl, which has been played since 1946 in various forms. It has been held as an ODU conference matchup since 2011.<p>

Georgia State took a 10-0 lead in the second quarter, but ODU responded with two straight scoring drives and 27 unanswered points. Roche scored his first touchdown on a 9-yard rush late in the second, and added his second on a 3-yarder in the third. Ja'Cory Thomas led with 64 receiving yards on four catches for the Monarchs. Christian Veilleux was 18-for-37 passing for 154 yards and a touchdown for the Panthers (1-11, 0-8). The Monarchs will conclude their season with a bowl game for the third time under head coach Ricky Rahne.   Ke'Travion Hargrove ran for three touchdown runs and Colton Joseph accounted for two touchdowns and 329 yards in Old Dominion's 45-10 rout of Georgia Southern on Saturday. Hargrove punched in a 1-yard score for the Monarchs (8-3, 5-2 Sun Belt) less than a minute in, after an interception thrown by JC French IV on the opening possession for the Eagles (5-6, 3-4). He added a 2-yard score and a 12-yard score on either side of halftime in a 40-yard rushing day.

Joseph found Jailen Butler early in the second quarter for his lone touchdown pass. He was 12-of-18 passing for 140 yards, but ran 20 times for 189 yards. He kept it for a 20-yard score with 2:02 left in the third quarter. The Eagles' lone touchdown came on an 11-yard pass from backup quarterback Turner Helton to Dylan Gary with 29 seconds remaining. Helton, the son of Eagles head coach Clay Helton, was 9-of-16 passing for 49 yards. French was 16 of 24 for 147 yards. Old Dominion's defense forced the Eagles to punt on seven of 12 drives, forcing a turnover-on-downs and interception on two others.   WEEK 12 SUN BELT DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Kris Trinidad, Old Dominion (RS Sr., DL – Richmond, Va.),...Monarchs redshirt senior defensive lineman Kris Trinidad led a defense that conceded just 138 yards—the fewest allowed in program history—en route to its second-ever shutout, 33-0 over Troy. The Richmond, Va., native registered a pair of sacks, as the Monarchs accumulated a single-game program record nine sacks in the victory. Trinidad also carded five tackles and two forced fumbles, with the first coming on Troy's first offensive play of the game and leading to Old Dominion's first scoring drive.   Colton Joseph threw for 147 yards and a touchdown, and he ran for 90 yards with two more scores to help Old Dominion rush past Troy 33-0 on Thursday night. Old Dominion (7-3, 4-2 Sun Belt Conference) reached seven wins in a season for the first time since 2016. The Monarchs also earned their second shutout since joining the FBS in 2015. Five different ODU rushers combined to gain 351 yards on 47 carries, with three touchdowns. Devin Roche had a team-high 145 yards rushing and Trequan Jones added 96 yards and a score. Jones went untouched up the middle for a 65-yard touchdown to cap the scoring in the fourth. Tre' Brown III had five catches for 112 yards and Ja'Cory Thomas made a touchdown grab for Old Dominion. Troy (6-4, 4-2) was held to nine first downs and 138 total yards.   Colton Joseph had 303 yards total offense with three rushing touchdowns in leading Old Dominion to a 31-6 win over Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday. Joseph passed for 231 yards and rushed for 72 for the Monarchs (6-3, 3-2 Sun Belt Conference). ULM (3-6, 1-4) turned the ball over on downs at its own 29 early and Ke'Travion Hargrove scored three plays later for the game's first points. Joseph added a 7-yard touchdown and Nathanial Eichner a 30-yard field goal after Zion Frink's interception in Warhawks territory. Joseph then scored on a 14-yard run and it was 24-0 at halftime. Joseph's final TD, a 1-yarder, capped a short drive in the fourth quarter. ULM, which has lost five straight, avoided the shutout on Aidan Armenta's 4-yard TD toss to Rylan Green with 4:15 remaining. Tre' Brown III had five catches for 83 yards for the Monarchs. Armenta was 12 of 20 for 150 yards passing with a TD and an interception.   Colton Joseph threw three touchdown passes and Old Dominion held on to beat Appalachian State 24-21 on Saturday. The Monarchs (5-3, 2-2 Sun Belt Conference) led 10-7 at halftime then added two third-quarter touchdowns on Joseph's 16-yarder to Na'eem Abdul-Rahim Gladding and a 24-yard score to Ja'Cory Thomas. App State backup AJ Swann entered in the fourth quarter and threw a 36-yard score to Kanen Hamlett and a 34-yarder to Davion Dozier with 1:35 left to get the Mountaineers (4-4, 1-3) within three. But the Monarchs recovered the onside kick and ran out the clock.

Joseph was 21-of-33 passing for 305 yards with the three scores plus an interception. He led all rushers with 62 yards. Joseph's other TD throw was a short pass to Ke'Travion Hargrove that the latter turned into a 70-yard score to open the scoring. Abdul-Rahim had 105 yards on eight catches. App State starter JJ Kohl was 19-of-37 passing for 138 yards with a score and two interceptions. Swann was 12 of 16 for 140 yards and two TDs. He connected with Ja'Cory Thomas twice for scores and once with TJ Johnson. Thomas finished with five receptions for 114 yards. Tre' Brown III also caught four passes for 81 yards for Old Dominion (3-1).

Joseph hit Johnson with a 22-yard touchdown pass with 1:54 left in the second quarter, and following a three-and-out by the Flames, connected with Thomas on a 31-yard touchdown pass to give the Monarchs a 14-0 lead heading into the break. Julian Gray ran for a 4-yard touchdown for the Flames midway through the third quarter before Joseph's 55-yard touchdown pass to Thomas ended the scoring early in the fourth. Michael Merdinger completed 6 of 11 passes for 77 yards for Liberty (1-4). Caden Williams had 85 yards rushing on 18 carries. Old Dominion racked up 489 yards of offense and held Liberty to 203. Joseph led the Monarchs on four-straight touchdown drives to finish the first half, as Old Dominion ran out to a 31-0 lead over the Hokies. The Savannah, Ga., native tackled the Eagles punter in the end zone for a safety, Old Dominion's first since its 2023 regular-season finale. Brown later blocked a punt—the Monarch's 16th since 2021—to set up a Old Dominion touchdown.   Colton Joseph threw for 276 yards and two touchdowns to lead Old Dominion to a 45-26 victory over Virginia Tech on Saturday. Joseph completed 16 of 22 passes and also rushed for 63 yards and a score for the Monarchs (2-1), who registered the program's first road win over an ACC opponent. The Monarchs, who entered the game as 6.5-point underdogs, converted two first-half Virginia Tech turnovers into touchdowns and jumped out to a 28-0 halftime lead. They moved the ball at will against the Hokies defense in the first 30 minutes, amassing 334 yards and going on scoring drives of 93, 97, 88, and 77 yards. Trequan Jones added 101 yards rushing and a score. Old Dominion finished with 527 total yards, including 250 on the ground. Kyron Drones threw for 266 yards and three touchdowns for Virginia Tech (0-3), which fell to 0-3 to start a season for the first time since 1987.   Trequan Jones scored on runs of 14, 39, and a program-record 93 yards, Colton Joseph threw three touchdown passes and ran for a TD, and Old Dominion beat North Carolina Central 54-6 on Saturday night. Jones finished with four carries for 160 yards and Joseph was 19-of-24 passing for 257 yards with no interceptions and added 51 yards rushing, including a 2-yard TD for Old Dominion (1-1). N.C. Central punter Brandon Bowman, standing on the goal line, bobbled a snap and was tackled in the end zone by Nickendre Stimon for a safety to open the scoring and Jones scored on a 39-yard run to cap ODU's ensuing possession and make it 9-0 with 1:59 left in the first quarter.

Bowman's 44-yard punt pinned the Monarch at their own 7 early in the third quarter, but on the next play from scrimmage Jones ripped off the longest run in ODU history to make it 23-3. Joseph threw touchdown passes to Na'eem Abdul-Rahim Gladding late in the second quarter, Ja'Cory Thomas and TJ Lott. Kaleb Robison kicked field goals of 39 and 27 yards for for N.C. Central (1-2). The Monarchs scored at least 50 points for the first time since the 2021 season. Old Dominion offensive tackle Zach Barlev was carted off the field early in the third quarter and did not return. Barlev, who started each of the Monarchs' 13 games last season, was replaced by Virginia Tech transfer Griffin Duggan.
