  Matt Vezza accounted for 303 yards and two touchdowns, and Nick Reed hit four first-half field goals as New Hampshire held off Maine 33-27 on Saturday. Vezza went 16 of 28 for 266 yards passing and threw an 8-yard touchdown to Chase Wilson before adding a 10-yard keeper with 1:56 left that pushed UNH (8-4, 6-2 Coastal Athletic Association) ahead by two scores. Reed supplied the rest of the cushion, connecting from 29, 21, 55 and 33 yards as the Wildcats built a 27-7 halftime lead.

Myles Thomason added a 1-yard touchdown run and totaled 73 rushing yards, while his 64-yard punt return set up Reed's longest kick. UNH finished with 396 yards and controlled possession until the fourth quarter. Maine (6-6, 5-3) nearly stole the game behind Carter Peevy, who threw for 180 yards and ran for 114 more. He scored on a 2-yard keeper in the second and threw a 12-yard strike to Trevin Ewing early in the third. After Rashawn Marshall's 9-yard run cut the deficit to six with 9:39 left, the Black Bears had one more answer: Peevy broke a 62-yard touchdown with 39 seconds remaining, but the blocked PAT left the margin at six. Maine recovered its onside kick but was flagged for illegal touching, allowing UNH to kneel out the final seconds.   WEEK 11 CAA FOOTBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jordan Mcallister, So., DE, New Hampshire (South Orange, N.J./Seton Hall Prep),...Mcallister recorded five tackles, a career-high 3.5 sacks and three forced fumbles as New Hampshire earned a 34-13 victory at No. 6 Monmouth. All three forced fumbles came on strip sacks and two were recovered to set up touchdown drives.   Matt Vezza threw a career-high five touchdown passes and New Hampshire flew past Bryant 42-14 on Saturday. Vezza completed 27 of 36 passes for 328 yards, also a career high. Caleb Burke had 134 receiving yards, and his nine receptions included a 72-yard touchdown. Peyton Strickland had two touchdown catches. On the ground, Denzell Gibson had 90 yards and a 45-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter for the Wildcats (7-4, 5-2 Coastal Athletic Association). New Hampshire had 467 yards of total offense. Bryant (3-8, 1-6) was held to 234 yards of offense. Elijah Elliott ran for both Bulldogs touchdowns and finished with 60 yards on 18 carries.   Matt Vezza threw for two touchdowns and ran for another score, and New Hampshire capitalized on a pair of second-half turnovers to beat Monmouth 34-13 on Saturday. Vezza was 16-of-25 passing for 173 yards and had 13 keepers for 67 yards. Myles Thomason rushed for 95 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries. Denzell Gibson had a 27-yard touchdown reception and Ryan Blagg had a 12-yarder, both coming after Monmouth, ranked sixth in the FCS coaches' poll, lost fumbles.

The Wildcats (6-4, 4-2 Coastal Athletic Association) took a 13-7 lead on Nick Reed's second field goal, a career-best 53-yarder, with 44 seconds left in the second quarter. The Hawks (8-2, 5-1) went 75 yards in five plays to tie the game at 13-all on a 19-yard pass from Frankie Weaver to Josh Derry eight seconds before halftime. New Hampshire marched 75 yards with the opening drive of the second half to break the tie on Thomason's 22-yard run. Gibson's score came on the third play after a fumble recovery on the Monmouth 37. The final score came after a fumble recovery on the New Hampshire 32. Monmouth also lost a fumble on its final possession.   Mike Vezza threw three touchdown passes - two to Caleb Burke - and New Hampshire beat William & Mary 34-24 on Saturday. Vezza threw touchdown passes of 17 yards and 48 yards, respectively, to Josh Fillion and Burke in the third quarter that countered a 6-yard TD run by the Tribe's Tyler Hughes for a 31-21 lead heading into the fourth. Nick Reed's 26-yard field goal with 19 seconds left in the first half gave New Hampshire (5-4, 3-2 Coastal Athletic Association) a 17-14 lead and the Wildcats stayed in front. Vezza and Burke connected for a 63-yard score and Myles Thomason rushed for a 39-yard TD in the first half. Vezza was 17-of-23 for career-high 280 yards. Burke had a career-high 153 yards on six catches and Thomason a personal-best 130 yards on 21 carries. Hughes rushed for all three of the Tribe's touchdowns and 74 yards total.   Matt Vezza threw for 230 yards, including a passing and a rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter for New Hampshire in a 24-10 win over Campbell on Saturday. Campbell (2-6, 2-2 in CAA) was ahead 10-9 heading into the fourth quarter, thanks to a 9-yard TD run from JJ Cowan. Vezza found Myles Thomason for a 4-yard touchdown pass with under nine minutes to play. Trailing 17-10, the Camels turned the ball over on downs on their own 6-yard line, setting up Vezza's rushing touchdown with under two minutes to play.

Mezza finished with 230 yards passing and 60 on the ground. Kicker Nick Reed went 3 for 4, with field goals from 36, 50 and 37 yards out. Campbell quarterback Mike Chandler II went 9-for-12 passing with 134 yards. Cowan led the Camels with 54 rushing yards. New Hampshire had a touchdown drive in each of the first three quarters - with each being 12-plus plays and 75-plus yards. Denzell Gibson scored from the 1-yard line, Ryan Blagg caught a pass from 6 yards out on the 17th play of the drive, and Matt Vezza added a 3-yard run to cap a 97-yard drive. Nick Reed added a 47-yard field goal midway through the fourth quarter for a 24-point lead. Myles Thomason rushed for 77 yards for New Hampshire (3-2, 1-0). Chase Wilson had 74 yards receiving. Colin Parachek threw for a touchdown and an interception for Albany (1-4, 0-1).   Nick Reed kicked a 40-yard field goal as time expired to lift New Hampshire to a 19-16 win over Holy Cross on Saturday night. The kick capped an eight-play, 80-yard drive that started when Holy Cross missed a 34-yard field goal with 1:40 remaining. Reed tied the game with a 50-yard field goal in the middle of the fourth quarter. He also connected from 33 yards on the last play of the first half for a 10-9 lead and made it 13-9 with a 30-yarder late in the third quarter.

Jayden Clerveaux's 1-yard touchdown run put the Crusaders on top early in the fourth quarter. Holy Cross (0-2) started the scoring less than two minutes into the game when Eli Thompson had a 28-yard interception return. The Wildcats (2-0) quickly got that back on the first play after a 17-yard kickoff return when Caleb Burke found Josh Fillion for a 53-yard score. Holy Cross finished with 251 yards on 58 snaps and New Hampshire had 279 on 54. The teams combined for just seven punts but were a combined 4 of 23 on third down. - AP College Football

  Matt Vezza threw for 186 yards and two touchdowns in his first career start as New Hampshire defeated North Carolina Central 27-10 in the season opener for both teams on Saturday night. Vezza and the Wildcats scored twice in just over three minutes late in the third quarter, with the sophomore taking one in himself before connecting with tight end Peyton Strickland on a 65-yard catch-and-run.

Myles Thomason finished with 76 yards rushing on 22 attempts, and Vezza added 36 yards on 12 carries. Caleb Burke led all receivers with five receptions for 78 yards. Trevor Barry had 10 total tackles and seven solo tackles, and Justice Akinmoladun, Darren Burton II, and Zach Garron each had one sack for New Hampshire. Walker Harris threw for 172 yards with one touchdown and one interception for the Eagles. He connected with Mehki Wall on a 65-yard touchdown in the third to cut N.C.   2022 ALL-CAA FOOTBALL FIRST TEAM: Josiah Silver, New Hampshire, DL, So.,...Silver is 15th nationally in sacks (0.77 per game and 28th in tackles for loss (1.3 per game); those numbers rank third in the CAA in sacks and fourth in tackles for loss. He leads all Wildcats with 14 tackles for loss and ranks second in sacks (8.5). Silver is fourth in both solo (27) and total (42) tackles. His other stats include three quarterback hurries, one forced fumble, a blocked punt and a pass breakup. Silver recorded a season-high six tackles, including five solo stops, at the University of Richmond; three of those tackles were behind the line of scrimmage with one sack and he also had a pair of quarterback hurries against the Spiders. Silver recorded at least one tackle for loss each of the first nine games of the season and a sack in 8 of 11 games.
