Nicholas Vattiato scrambled 5 yards for a touchdown with 21 seconds remaining, lifting Middle Tennessee to a 14-13 victory over Nevada on Saturday. Middle Tennessee (1-2) was shut out until Vattiato threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Nahzae Cox with 6 1/2 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. Nevada responded with an 8-play, 51-yard drive but Joe McFadden missed a 41-yard field-goal attempt. The Blue Raiders took possession with 2 minutes remaining and Vattiato drove them 76 yards in 11 plays. On the go-ahead touchdown, he dropped back to pass, broke free from the rush and scrambled off-tackle into the end zone. Jacob Hathaway added the extra point to break the tie. Nevada reached the MTSU 39 on the final possession but McFadden missed from 56 yards.

Wide receiver Markus Allen announced on Twitter he plans to return to UW. Allen, a redshirt freshman, announced on Oct. 17 he planned to transfer. He committed to Minnesota on Nov. 28 but de-committed from the Gophers earlier this week. Allen withdrew his name from the transfer portal Thursday and subsequently tweeted a picture from a UW game in which he is celebrating with fellow wide receivers Skyler Bell and Keontez Lewis.

Allen played in three games in 2021 and finished with three catches for 65 yards. He played in UW's first six games this season and recorded seven catches for 91 yards and a touchdown. He did not play at Michigan State on Oct. 15 and announced two days later he planned to transfer. Allen, from Northmont High School in Ohio, initially committed to Michigan but changed his mind and signed with UW. - Journal Sentinel
