  09/13/25 - Maurion EleamrJr/2027, Louisiana, 5-10, 166 (DS#999 FS) + More +

Louisiana-Lafayette safety Maurion Eleam exited Saturday's game at No. 25 Missouri, carted off the field on a backboard before being transported to University Hospital's emergency room with a lower body injury. The injury occurred with 10:53 left in the second quarter when Eleam absorbed a block from Missouri left tackle Cayden Green. Medical staff tended to Eleam for several minutes before he was transported to a backboard and his neck immobilized, then carted to an ambulance.

Eleam waved his right hand and gave a thumbs-up as he was carted off the field, and his teammates gathered at the spot of the injury. Earlier in the second quarter, Eleam delivered what appeared to be a momentum-changing play when he scooped up a fumble at the goal line by Missouri wide receiver Marquis Johnson, racing 100 yards for a touchdown. The fumble was overturned after a replay review, with officials ruling Johnson broke the goal line with possession of the ball before the fumble. - AP College Football

  01/21/23 - Walker HowardrJr/2027, Louisiana, 6-0, 190 (DS#20 QB) + More +

It's getting more and more interesting at quarterback for OIe Miss. Coach Lane Kiffin, who is never satisfied, brought in USC Trojan transfer Jaxson Dart before the 2022 season. Jaxson Dart threw for 2,974 yards, had 20 touchdown passes and 11 interceptions but must fight in camp to keep his job. LSU freshman quarterback Walker Howard is leaving Baton Rouge and transferring to Ole Miss, which also has Oklahoma State transfer Spencer Sanders. Howard was a four-star recruit out of St. Thomas More (La.) and ranked as the No. 40 overall recruit in his class. At LSU, Howard completed 2 of 4 passes for 7 yards and retained redshirt status. He rushed six times for 33 yards.

The Ole Miss staff saw backup and former four-star Luke Altmyer enter the portal and transfer to Illinois. Dart has some decisions to make. Does he want to battle Spencer Sanders for the QB1 spot, or transfer someplace where there is less competition? Sanders has just one year of collegiate eligibility remaining. Sanders has the inside track to QB1, which should mean Dart should seek other opportunities. Stay tuned. - By Frank Cooney, NFL Draft Scout
