  RJ Johnson III threw three touchdown passes, the last of which provided the go-ahead score in the fourth quarter, and Florida A&M defeated Alabama A&M 26-23 on Saturday in a game that saw six lead changes. Johnson connected with Jalen Rogers for a 27-yard touchdown that gave the Rattlers (5-5, 4-2 SWAC) the final lead with 8:50 remaining in the game. Alabama A&M reached the Rattlers 33-yard line in the final minute, but Nicholas Dimitris and James Gardner Jr. combined to sack Eric Handley on the last play of the game.

Johnson was 20-for-24 passing for 299 yards. Two of his touchdowns went to Kenari Wilcher, who caught four passes for 91 yards. Alabama A&M (4-7, 1-6) had the advantage in total yards 460-392 but settled for three field goals by David Faulk - two of them in the red zone. Handley was 20-for-33 passing for 227 yards for the Bulldogs. Ryan Morrow had 136 yards rushing, including an 80-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. The Bulldogs' other touchdown was a 36-yard touchdown pass from Handley to Daveon Walker for their final lead at 23-19 with 10 minutes left in the game. - AP College Football

  RJ Johnson III threw and ran for a touchdown, Jamal Hailey ran for 157 yards and three scores and Florida A&M outlasted Southern 43-35 on Saturday night. Hailey had a 39-yard touchdown run and Johnson connected with Goldie Lawrence for a 74-yard touchdown in a span of 2:25 in the fourth quarter and Florida A&M (3-4, 2-1 Southwestern Athletic Conference) led 36-28 with 6:43 remaining. Hailey scored on a first-down 56-yard run following a Jaguars' punt to up Florida A&M's advantage to 15 before Strother added his third 1-yard touchdown run for the final margin.

Johnson completed 22 of 32 passes for 287 yards. Hailey did his damage on 19 rushes and Lawrence finished with 95 yards on four receptions. Trey Holly had a 2-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter before scoring on a 3-yard run 27 seconds into the second to give Southern (1-7, 0-4) a 14-3 lead. Daniel Porto kicked his second field goal, Hailey followed with a 7-yard touchdown run and Johnson raced 26 yards for a score with 57 seconds left as the Rattlers moved in front 19-14 at halftime. Ashton Strother finished off a 91-yard drive with a 1-yard touchdown run and Southern moved back in front 21-19. Porto's 20-yard field goal with 2 minutes left gave the Rattlers a 22-21 lead heading to the fourth quarter. Strother had 197 yards on 12-for-28 passing with three 1-yard touchdown runs.   RJ Johnson III threw a touchdown pass and ran for another score to help Florida A&M beat Alcorn State 33-28 on Saturday night. Johnson was 26-of-38 passing for 323 yards with no interceptions for Florida A&M (2-4, 1-1 Southwestern Athletic Conference). He threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Jamar Taylor to cap an eight-play, 88-yard drive with about two minutes left in the third quarter and, after the Braves went three-and-out, scored on a 26-yard run to give the Rattlers a 24-14 lead with 12:24 to play. Jaylon Tolbert ran for a 31-yard TD in the second quarter and threw touchdown passes of 34 yards to Reggie Davis and 8 yards to Jacoby Matthews in the fourth quarter for Alcorn State (1-6, 0-3). Wide Receiver Goldie Lawrence ran 33 yards for a touchdown on an end around that gave FAMU a 33-21 lead with 3:35 to play.   RJ Johnson III threw two touchdown passes and Thad Franklin Jr. added two rushing scores as Florida A&M beat Albany State 33-25 on Saturday. Johnson led the Rattlers (1-2) to their first win of the season, completing 17 of 22 passes for 272 yards. His 71-yard strike to Kenari Wilcher sparked a 16-point third quarter as Florida A&M rallied from a 14-10 halftime deficit. Wilcher finished with 121 yards on five receptions, while Armand Burris added 78 yards on five catches.

Franklin carried 15 times for 76 yards, scoring from 2 and 14 yards out. Daniel Porto added two field goals, including a 48-yarder in the fourth that gave the Rattlers breathing room before Franklin's final touchdown extended the lead. Albany State (2-1) struck first with Isaiah Knowles' 25-yard touchdown pass to Jamill Williams. Knowles finished 17 of 31 for 201 yards passing. Aljhanod Thomas and Tiant Wyche also had touchdown runs for the Golden Rams.   Daniel Richardson threw a pair of touchdown passes to rally Florida A&M from an 11-point fourth quarter deficit to top South Carolina State 22-18 on Saturday night. Florida A&M moves to 2-0 to start the season after edging Norfolk State 24-23 August 23. Richardson found Koby Gross from 29 yards out to give the Rattlers a 7-6 lead at intermission, but South Carolina State took the lead in the third quarter when Eric Phoenix hit KZ Adams with an 8-yard touchdown pass with 4 seconds left in the third quarter and Josh Shaw pushed the lead to 18-7 lead with a 1-yard touchdown run less than three minutes into the fourth.

Richardson engineered a six-play, 74-yard drive top get within two points, hitting Karter Johnson from 7-yards out, then pulling down a 2-point conversion catch from Gross. The Rattlers marched 84 yards for the go-ahead touchdown when Richardson hit J. Thad Franklin for a 6-yard score. Richardson completed 23 of 38 passes for 282 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Rattlers. Levontai Summersett carried 11 times for 62 yards. Phoenix was 12-of-25 passing for 132 yards to lead the Bulldogs in their season opener. Deondre Duehart carried 10 times for 74 yards. - AP College Football

  Daniel Richardson threw three touchdown passes and Florida A&M rallied to defeat Norfolk State 24-23 in the MEAC/SWAC Challenge on Saturday night. It was the first game at Florida A&M for Richardson, who previously played at Florida Atlantic and Central Michigan. It was also the debut for James Colzie III as coach of the Rattlers. Richardson's 55-yard pass to Jamari Gassett gave the Rattlers their first lead, 17-14 early in the third quarter. Later in the third, Richardson threw to Gassett for a 9-yard touchdown and the Rattlers led 24-17.

Norfolk State closed to within 24-23 when Kevon King scored on a 2-yard run with 6 1/2 minutes left in the game. FAMU's Jameel Sanders blocked the PAT but was flagged for being offsides. With the ball at the 1-yard line, the Spartans opted to go for two points and the lead, but quarterback Jalen Daniels was stopped short of the goal line. FAMU then ran off 11 plays and 63 yards to wrap up the win. Richardson completed 22 of 30 passes for 286 yards. Gassett had eight catches for 110 yards. King had 14 carries for 146 yards with two touchdowns and Daniels completed 7 of 9 passes for 142 yards for Norfolk State. - AP College Football

  Jeremy Moussa passed for two touchdowns, Jaylen McCloud rushed for two scores and Florida A&M beat Bethune-Cookman 41-20 on Saturday in the Florida Classic. Florida A&M (9-2, 7-1 SWAC) extended its winning streak to nine games after season-opening losses to Jackson State and North Carolina. Moussa also had a 24-yard receiving touchdown, on a double pass from WR Xavier Smith, to take a 27-7 lead with 1:01 left before halftime. Smith also made five catches for 76 yards, including a 32-yard touchdown on a pass from Moussa. Smith entered ranked third in the nation (first in SWAC) in receptions per game (8.2), fifth in receiving yards (first in SWAC) with 951 yards, and sixth in receiving touchdowns (first in SWAC) with 10. Moussa entered ranked 18th in passing yards with 2,538 and 19th with 19 passing TDs. Jalon Jones threw for 172 yards with two touchdowns and an interception for Bethune-Cookman (2-9, 2-6).
