After Dayton fumbled deep in Davidson territory on its first possession, Williams intercepted a pass and returned it 32 yards for the game's first touchdown.   WEEK 9 PIONEER FOOTBALL LEAGUE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Vincent Firenze, Dayton (Sophomore (RS), Safety, Syracuse, New York),...Firenze's 20-yard pick-six in the third quarter capped Dayton's 28-point outburst in a 35-19 PFL victory against nationally-ranked Presbyterian. On Presbyterian's first drive of the second half, he intercepted a pass on 3rd-and-5 from the Blue Hose 17-yard line and returned it 20 yards for a touchdown that proved to be Dayton's final score of the game.   Josh Williams intercepted two passes in the first quarter, returning one for a touchdown, and Dayton claimed a 42-14 victory over Davidson on Saturday in the season finale for both teams. Williams' 32-yard touchdown return of a Coulter Cleland pass gave the Flyers a 7-0 lead. He intercepted Cleland on the next possession, setting up Dayton at the 15-yard line, and Luke Hansen finished the short drive with a 1-yard touchdown run - the first of his two scores in the victory. Hansen's second touchdown gave the Flyers a 21-0 lead in the third quarter, and Liam Poronsky followed with two touchdown passes for a 35-0 lead heading to the fourth.

Cleland threw two touchdown passes in the fourth quarter for Davidson. Poronsky was 16-for-22 passing for 201 yards for Dayton (7-4, 5-3 Pioneer Football League). He threw two TD passes and was intercepted once. Gavin Lochow had 188 yards receiving on 11 catches. Davidson (2-10, 1-7) allowed 35 or more points nine times this season. The Wildcats' only wins were against Division III Greensboro College and Presbyterian, with their only PFL victory coming in a 14-13 win over Presbyterian. - AP College Football

He racked up a career-high 14 tackles, including seven solos, and returned his third interception of the season 20 yards for a touchdown. The Flyers kept PC, which was 19th-ranked, both 22 points and 102 yards below their pregame averages.   Gavin Lochow ran for a pair of touchdowns, including a 79-yarder, and Dayton beat Presbyterian 35-19 on Saturday to end the Blue Hose's 11-game win streak. The Flyers (6-2, 4-1 Pioneer League) intercepted three Collin Hurst passes, including Vince Firenze's 20-yard pick-6 for a 35-13 lead midway through the third quarter. Josh Williams' interception led to Lochow's 5-yard score in a 21-point Dayton second quarter. Mac Grant III had the other pick. Dayton's other second-quarter scores came on Luke Hansen's 32-yard run one play after a short Presbyterian punt and Drew VanFleet's 31-yard pass to Ethan Thulin with 14 seconds left in the half.

Presbyterian (7-1, 3-1), ranked No. 16 in the FCS coaches' poll, scored on the game's second play from scrimmage on Hurst's 72-yard pass play to Cincere Gill. Dayton responded with Lochow's long TD run before the Blue Hose took their final lead on Nathan Levicki's 1-yard run to cap a 75-yard first-quarter drive.   WEEK 7 PFL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Bryce Schondelmyer, Dayton (Sophomore (RS), Quarterback, Brookville, Ohio),...Schondelmyer needed just one half to make his mark, throwing for three first-half touchdowns in Dayton's 41-10 win at Valparaiso. In the first half, he completed 14-of-20 passes for 199 yards and three touchdowns to three different receivers. Schondelmyer opened the scoring with an eight-yard touchdown completion to Dominic Vrbancic, added a second-quarter four-yard TD pass to Donovan Weatherly, and capped the first half with a 20-yard scoring pass to Michael Mussari. He led the Flyers' 41-point first-half outburst that proved enough to hold off the Beacons. Schondelmyer was on the field for the Flyers' first drive of the second half, going 1-for-2 passing for three yards, and finished the day completing 15-of-22 passes for 202 yards. - Pioneer Football League

  WEEK 7 PFL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Brandon Martin, Dayton (Sophomore (RS), Defensive End, Cincinnati, Ohio),...Martin filled in the stat sheet while leading a defensive effort that did not allow a point until the fourth quarter in a 41-10 victory at Valparaiso. He recorded six tackles (four solo), with 3.0 for a loss and the other three resulting in no gain, along with a sack, picked up a fumble recovery, and had a pass breakup on the day. Martin's sack came in the third quarter on a 3rd-and-13 in Dayton territory and helped force a punt. On the next Valparaiso drive, he landed on a lost fumble to halt another Valparaiso drive that had entered Dayton territory and helped flip the field position. - Pioneer Football League

  Bryce Schondelmyer threw for 202 yards and three touchdowns, and Dayton defeated Valparaiso 41-10 on Saturday for its fifth straight victory. Dayton (5-1, 3-0 Pioneer) led 41-0 at halftime, with 27 points coming in the second quarter. The Flyers have outscored opponents 49-14 in the first quarter this season, including shutting out the opposing team four of the six opening quarters.

Schondelmyer had touchdown throws to Donovan Weatherly, Michael Mussari and Dominic Vrbancic - with the three receivers combining for four catches for 49 yards. Schondelmyer has thrown 15 touchdowns on the season with no interceptions. The Dayton defense turned the Beacons over on downs on their first possession of the game, and Mac Grant III ran an interception back for a 43-yard score on Valpo's second drive. Rowan Keefe and Caron Tyler each threw an interception for Valparaiso (1-5, 0-2), which dropped its fifth game in a row. Keefe went 5 of 6 for 113 yards with a 25-yard touchdown to Brayden Welch. He became the second Flyers quarterback to throw five touchdowns in a half. In just 38 minutes of action, Schondelmyer completed 19-of-23 passes for 333 yards and five touchdowns without an interception, setting career highs in completion percentage (82.6), completions, passing yards, and touchdowns. Schondelmyer's first two touchdown passes went for 50 and 54 yards, and he followed that with TDs from 21, seven, and seven yards.   Bryce Schondelmyer threw for 333 yards and five touchdowns, and Vincent Firenze had a 99-yard pick-six to lead Dayton to a 48-14 win over Stetson in a Pioneer League opener on Saturday. Schondelmyer was 19-of-23 passing on his career day with Michael Mussari his favorite target with eight catches for 169 yards and two scores for the Flyers (3-1). Schondelmyer found Donovan Weatherly for a 50-yard touchdown on the opening drive of the game and then had TD connections of 54- and 21-yards with Mussari to lead 21-7 after the first quarter.

Gavin Lochow and Dominic Vrbancic had 7-yard touchdown catches to make it 35-7. On the last play off the half, as the Hatter were trying to get back in the game, Firenze intercepted Kael Alexander at the goal line and raced untouched down the sidelines for a 42-14 lead. Alexander was 15 of 29 for 190 yards with two picks and two touchdown passes to Dylan Redmon for Stetson (1-4). Redmon had a 27-yard score on the first possession to tie the game at 7 and an 11-yard TD late in the second quarter that made it 35-14. - AP College Football

  Robby Smart kicked a 21-yard field goal with 3:28 left and Bryce Schondelmyer tossed two touchdown passes as Dayton beat Robert Morris 17-14 on Saturday. The Colonials (1-3) opened the scoring when Ethan Shine powered into the end zone from 2 yards out in the first quarter. Dayton answered in the second as Schondelmyer found Gavin Lochow on a 7-yard touchdown strike to make it 7-7 at halftime. Shine put Robert Morris back in front with a 9-yard touchdown run in the third for a 14-7 lead. The Flyers pulled even early in the fourth when Schondelmyer hit Luke Hansen on a 26-yard catch and run. After the Dayton defense forced a punt, the Flyers drove inside the 5 and Smart split the uprights for the win.

Schondelmyer finished 13 of 20 for the Flyers (2-1) with 194 yards passing, two touchdowns and no interceptions. Mason Hackett rushed 18 times for 97 yards. Michael Mussari led Dayton with three catches for 52 yards, and Ethan Thulin added a 45-yard grab that flipped field position. Robert Morris played three different quarterbacks and completed 10 of 25 passes for 115 yards without a touchdown.   Bryce Schondelmyer threw a pair of touchdowns to Gavin Lochow and Luke Hansen ran for two more as Dayton defeated Division-II Thomas More College 38-0 on Saturday. Vincent Firenze and Josh Williams had interceptions for a Flyers defense that posted its first shutout since blanking Robert Morris 13-0 in 2016. Schondelmyer was 16-of-23 passing for 118 yards. Lochow made nine catches for 83 yards and Hansen ran for 131 yards on 15 carries.

Lochow's touchdown catches of 3 and 9 yards came in the first half when the Flyers (1-1) took a 14-0 lead. Hansen had a 2-yard TD run in the third quarter and added a 51-yard score in the fourth. Robby Smart kicked a 37-yard field goal and Drew VanVleet threw a 16-yard TD pass to Michael Mussari to complete the scoring. Dayton outgained the Saints 371-200, holding Thomas More to 74 yards rushing. - AP College Football
