  Bryce Schondelmyer threw for 202 yards and three touchdowns, and Dayton defeated Valparaiso 41-10 on Saturday for its fifth straight victory. Dayton (5-1, 3-0 Pioneer) led 41-0 at halftime, with 27 points coming in the second quarter. The Flyers have outscored opponents 49-14 in the first quarter this season, including shutting out the opposing team four of the six opening quarters.

Schondelmyer had touchdown throws to Donovan Weatherly, Michael Mussari and Dominic Vrbancic - with the three receivers combining for four catches for 49 yards. Schondelmyer has thrown 15 touchdowns on the season with no interceptions. The Dayton defense turned the Beacons over on downs on their first possession of the game, and Mac Grant III ran an interception back for a 43-yard score on Valpo's second drive. Rowan Keefe and Caron Tyler each threw an interception for Valparaiso (1-5, 0-2), which dropped its fifth game in a row. Keefe went 5 of 6 for 113 yards with a 25-yard touchdown to Brayden Welch.   WEEK 5 PIONEER FOOTBALL LEAGUE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Bryce Schondelmyer, Dayton (Sophomore (RS), Quarterback, Brookville, Ohio),...Schondelmyer threw five first-half touchdowns to power Dayton past Stetson 48-14 in PFL action on Saturday. He became the second Flyers quarterback to throw five touchdowns in a half. In just 38 minutes of action, Schondelmyer completed 19-of-23 passes for 333 yards and five touchdowns without an interception, setting career highs in completion percentage (82.6), completions, passing yards, and touchdowns. Schondelmyer's first two touchdown passes went for 50 and 54 yards, and he followed that with TDs from 21, seven, and seven yards.   Bryce Schondelmyer threw for 333 yards and five touchdowns, and Vincent Firenze had a 99-yard pick-six to lead Dayton to a 48-14 win over Stetson in a Pioneer League opener on Saturday. Schondelmyer was 19-of-23 passing on his career day with Michael Mussari his favorite target with eight catches for 169 yards and two scores for the Flyers (3-1). Schondelmyer found Donovan Weatherly for a 50-yard touchdown on the opening drive of the game and then had TD connections of 54- and 21-yards with Mussari to lead 21-7 after the first quarter.

Gavin Lochow and Dominic Vrbancic had 7-yard touchdown catches to make it 35-7. On the last play off the half, as the Hatter were trying to get back in the game, Firenze intercepted Kael Alexander at the goal line and raced untouched down the sidelines for a 42-14 lead. Alexander was 15 of 29 for 190 yards with two picks and two touchdown passes to Dylan Redmon for Stetson (1-4). Redmon had a 27-yard score on the first possession to tie the game at 7 and an 11-yard TD late in the second quarter that made it 35-14. - AP College Football

He recorded six tackles (two solo) and also had an interception and a pass breakup. Firenze's interception came on the first play of a Thomas More drive and led to Dayton's first touchdown. His pass breakup came on a third-down play, forcing a punt in the third quarter.   Robby Smart kicked a 21-yard field goal with 3:28 left and Bryce Schondelmyer tossed two touchdown passes as Dayton beat Robert Morris 17-14 on Saturday. The Colonials (1-3) opened the scoring when Ethan Shine powered into the end zone from 2 yards out in the first quarter. Dayton answered in the second as Schondelmyer found Gavin Lochow on a 7-yard touchdown strike to make it 7-7 at halftime. Shine put Robert Morris back in front with a 9-yard touchdown run in the third for a 14-7 lead. The Flyers pulled even early in the fourth when Schondelmyer hit Luke Hansen on a 26-yard catch and run. After the Dayton defense forced a punt, the Flyers drove inside the 5 and Smart split the uprights for the win.

Schondelmyer finished 13 of 20 for the Flyers (2-1) with 194 yards passing, two touchdowns and no interceptions. Mason Hackett rushed 18 times for 97 yards. Michael Mussari led Dayton with three catches for 52 yards, and Ethan Thulin added a 45-yard grab that flipped field position. Robert Morris played three different quarterbacks and completed 10 of 25 passes for 115 yards without a touchdown.   Bryce Schondelmyer threw a pair of touchdowns to Gavin Lochow and Luke Hansen ran for two more as Dayton defeated Division-II Thomas More College 38-0 on Saturday. Vincent Firenze and Josh Williams had interceptions for a Flyers defense that posted its first shutout since blanking Robert Morris 13-0 in 2016. Schondelmyer was 16-of-23 passing for 118 yards. Lochow made nine catches for 83 yards and Hansen ran for 131 yards on 15 carries.

Lochow's touchdown catches of 3 and 9 yards came in the first half when the Flyers (1-1) took a 14-0 lead. Hansen had a 2-yard TD run in the third quarter and added a 51-yard score in the fourth. Robby Smart kicked a 37-yard field goal and Drew VanVleet threw a 16-yard TD pass to Michael Mussari to complete the scoring.   Gavin Lochow caught a touchdown pass and threw for another and the Dayton defense forced turnovers on the last three possessions as the Flyers opened the season with an 18-10 win over St. Francis (Pa.) on Saturday. Lochow hauled in a 12-yard pass from Drew VanVleet midway through the first quarter to cap an 11-play, 28-yard drive on the Flyers' first possession. That score was set up by Gideon Lampron's strip sack of Nick Whitfield Jr. and fumble recovery. The Flyers converted on fourth down twice. A 75-yard punt to the St. Francis 1 when the defense swarmed Markell Holman on the next play for a safety in the final minute of the first quarter.

The Flyers opened the second half with an eight-play, 74-yard drive, capped by Lochow's 27-yard strike to Luke Brenner after he took a backwards pass from VanVleet. That made it 15-3 after the two-point conversion failed. Dayton's second lost fumble led to a 1-yard touchdown run by Markell Holman to pull St. Francis within 15-10 but the Red Flash's next three drives ended by fumbles on the Flyers' 5 and 32 and downs on Dayton's 36. Finally, the Red Flash got to try a Hail Mary from Dayton's 43 as time ran out. - AP College Football

  NOV 14 PFL CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jake Chisholm, Dayton, (Sr., RB, Union, Kentucky),...Chisholm scored twice and had his third-straight 100-yard rushing performance in Dayton's 49-27 PFL victory against Morehead State, Saturday. He finished the game with 34 carries for 205 yards, two touchdowns, and two receptions for 54 yards. His 205 rushing yards and 259 all-purpose yards were both best in the PFL during Week 11. Chisholm's first touchdown was a four-yard run that gave the Flyers a 12-7 lead after one quarter. His second score game at the start of the second half and proved to be the eventual game-winner, putting Dayton ahead 28-17. Chisholm finished the game with 960 yards this season and needs 40 yards to become the first Dayton athlete with 1,000 rushing yards in three consecutive seasons. - PFL Football

Chisholm had 34 carries, going over 3,000 career rushing yards and scoring on runs of 4 and 6 yards, the latter giving the Flyers a 28-17 lead midway through the third quarter. Hamm threw touchdown passes to Cade Beam of 5 and 21 yards in the fourth quarter. Hamm finished with 230 yards total offense.   OCT 31 PIONEER FOOTBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Sam Schadek, Dayton, (Sr., DT, Columbus, Ohio),...Schadek notched 4.5 tackles for loss, including 3.5 sacks, as Dayton secured a 31-24 PFL victory against Valparaiso, Saturday. The bulk of his damage came in the second half as he recorded 3.5 tackles for loss - all on sacks - and a hurry. On Valparaiso's final two possessions, he had 2.5 sacks alone. After Dayton missed a potential go-ahead field goal with under six minutes left, Schadek was involved in back-to-back sacks that put Valparaiso in a 3rd-and-29 situation and ultimately forced a punt. Then after the Flyers scored the go-ahead touchdown with 13 seconds left, Schadek recorded a solo sack on the Beacons' first play of the ensuing drive, helping secure the victory.   Jake Chisholm rushed for three touchdowns and caught a fourth, quarterback Shane Hamm added 74 yards rushing and a score, and Dayton went for 294 yards on the ground in a 52-28 win over Presbyterian 52-28 on Saturday. It was the 700th program victory for Dayton, which is just the ninth school playing at the FCS level to reach the mark. Dayton scored 28 unanswered points in the first half to take a 35-7 lead at halftime, and Hamm's 47-yard touchdown run capped the scoring with 10:11 left in the fourth.

Chisholm had 145 yards rushing and Hamm was 6-of-14 passing with a touchdown and an interception for Dayton (7-2, 5-1). Hamm's 10-yard touchdown to Chisholm came on the game's first possession. Freshman Dominic Kibby caught seven passes for 212 yards and three scores for Presbyterian (1-9, 0-7). Kibby's touchdowns went for 75, 63 and 31 yards. Tyler Wesley threw for 253 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. A.J. Chisholm carried it 18 times for 103 yards and two touchdowns for Dayton (5-2, 4-1 Pioneer League). Hamm was 12 of 19 for 137 yards with a touchdown, and he added 25 carries for 129 yards. Chisholm had an 11-yard touchdown on Dayton's first possession and the Flyers led 14-0 after Cole Hildebrand's 30-yard pick-6. Michael Appel Jr. threw for 323 yards with two touchdowns and an interception for Valparaiso (4-4, 3-2). Braden Contreras and Solomon Davis each had 100-plus yards receiving and a touchdown.   Sam Webster made a go-ahead 22-yard field goal with 6:06 remaining in the fourth quarter and Dayton scored 13 unanswered points to beat Stetson 23-20 on Saturday. Webster also made field goals from 39 and 44 yards. Stetson kicker Cameron Gillis gave them a 20-10 lead midway through the third quarter. Shane Hamm was 11 of 18 for 122 yards for Dayton (5-2, 3-1 Pioneer League), and he ran it 12 times for 44 yards and a touchdown. Jake Chisholm rushed it 26 times for 96 yards. Stetson (3-3, 1-2) was led by Brady Meitz's 327 yards passing. Meitz was intercepted by Logan Dalton, who ran it back to give Dayton a 10-3 lead. - AP College Football
